Ditch Gadgets for New Kits
I want a Mine Kit.
Make the auto attack the Toolbelt skill, where you can Stack about 10 layers of mines around you.
and other mines are like an Electrical Fence trap when people walk into them, or more blockbacks
possibly Boon removals, and stuns and junk. I think everything could be some kind of knockback or stuns, and it would be justified cause you literally need people to walk into them, so it’s not to overpowered really.

Mine did have its own kit back in the first Beta Weekend Event.
It was removed because it was literally the same ability 5 times, and it wasn’t like the current mine kit where it removed a boon and knocked back.

There used to be a mine kit, actually.
Arena net got rid of it, though, not sure why, might be because it was a defensive kit and we all know that the engineer has oodles of those.
1 is an oodle, right?
So we have an oodle of a kit.
That explains that one Skill Challenge guy in the Charr starting zone – has a Mine Kit, so he lays down a bunch of them.
I could dig a mine kit. Be the first kit I’d actually keep on. Could work it out to have interesting effects and/or combo fields, maybe some unique methods of mine deployment (like, maybe a Spider Mine, that would be placed and run in a particular direction to start with, and then start ricocheting off walls like a murderous Roomba).
The current mines are woefully inadequate. Minefield is a joke, and in the likely event all but a couple of the mines are triggered, you get the full cooldown for trying to lay down a new minefield.
And only having 1 mine is pretty lame. If a mine has been on the ground a while and is tripped by an enemy you can throw another one right away, but what’s terrible is that the mine often disappears if you go any distance from it and the skill button is still on “detonate” meaning you have to push it for no effect and a full cooldown.
I’m pretty sure they removed it because as someone mentioned it was a kit full of 5 blast finishers, but I don’t see why we can’t stack these current blowback mines if you can only place one before a cooldown so it takes some time to build a collection.
