I haven’t leveled an engineer but I’ve heard that grenades have to be aimed and not even the first ability auto attacks. I then saw an engineer using his flame thrower and asked him if the flame thrower had an auto attack option for the first key….and he replied “no”. So do you guys manually mash your main attack 50000 times in a dungeon while at the same time trying to activate your other abilities? I’ve yet to play a class that didn’t have auto attacks. Can someone explain what weapons do and do not use an auto attack?

Flamethrower, Elixir Gun, Tool Kit, Bomb Kit all got “auto attacks” it’s just that currently they’re bugged n don’t save the Auto attack setting so we gotta Ctrl +Right click everytime we switch to a kit.

Almost any skill can be set to autoattack. It’s just that kits don’t have the first skill set to auto by default, you have to CTRL+RMB every time you swap to the kit.
Grenades can’t autoattack because they’re ground-targeted.
Its because kits aren’t weapons. Kits are bundles. And bundles don’t have a remembered auto attack.
Its working as intended, till they make kits not bundles.

Actually the only reason the Kits don’t have auto attack yet is because the Devs are too busy with other things to implement it.

We shouldn’t have to live with a poor decision.
When you switch to elixir gun,flamethrower, or tool auto attack should kick in.All 3 have autoattacks that need to happen. You need auto attack to constantly stack bleed/weakness with elixir gun. To constantly roast your opponents with flamethrower. And to heal your turrets or smash people with your wrench in tool kit.To have to switch it just so you dont have to be pressing the thing a million times is just silly.Oh forgot bomb kit as well.
If it is “working as intended” then whoever decided that to work that way was a complete moron.
It’s even worse in sPvP when you should be focusing on other skills rather than mashing 1.
So hearing ArenaNet wanting to change a stupid decision is very good.Free up a finger for other keys.
They will still be bundles, but they will have a simple function added that s hould of been there in the first place.For your argument to hold any water the ability to turn 1 into autoattack with shift+right click wouldn’t exist.
