Dual Pistol DPS
I honestly never use dual pistols anymore. The shield skills are just too useful in pvp.
I use both as both are good. Blowtorch just needs to hit 5 targets instead of 3.
After Knee Shot fix Glue Shot is better than ever (so is glue bomb)
Condition damage is imo actually still quite good if spec’d for it (and elixirs), esp. with piercing bullets. Dual pistol is better for that than pistol / shield because it relies heavy on (burn, bleed) crits but in PVP I tend to use shield with it instead to have some utility / survivability because often I don’t have any kits slotted, just elixirs.
blowtorch’s damage comes from the burns, effective only if you are running condition damage build.
Glue shot is a control skill.
I agree tho the shield is much much more useful in comparison.
What I feel strange for the engineer is that most of his traits that have a chance to trigger a condition have a cooldown AND a short duration. But most of his weapons hit more than 1 target. Incendiary powder, which is an explosives trait, is close to useless with explosives because it will only happens on only one target every x seconds. In comparison with a full critical damage build that can deal more damage to all enemies you hit, it feels a bit weak.
@spleen – probably it fits or intended for condi/precision built.
But I didnt realise incendiary powder only works on 1 target every x seconds… at least the trait description didnt describe it as so…
I suppose it was a way to prevent mass condition stacking, but it would have been better to reduce the % chance that happens or the duration, because it doesn’t work on more than one target, which is a bit odd on a explosives traits, as it will, by definition, hit multiple tagets.
If you’re not specced for condition, don’t bother with the second pistol. Shield and Off-Hand pistols are for two completely different play styles, don’t compare them, and certainly don’t give the Off-Hand pistol a bad name by slandering it when you’re not specced correctly to use it.
That’s like me using my condition build saying the Rifle is weak because I don’t have enough Power and Precision to make full use of it, and the Rifle doesn’t have the conditions to make use of the 1423 condition damage I have.
Doesn’t condition damage also impact the amount of damage taken from confusion (pistol #3)? Since #2 is poison as well it would appear condition damage is kind of useful for pistols regardless if single or dual wield.

^This. I run dual pistols in sPvP/tPvP & do very VERY well with it. Could just be the players but I usually own pistol/shield or kit users. Rifle is annoying because of the cc & if they’re built for megaburst, I’m screwed, but, specced/played properly, dual pistol fits can be awesome.
Yeah, it’s a LOT more work than just whipping out the flamethrower or chucking bombs but they rarely, if ever, come anywhere near my effectiveness, maybe because they’re on-trick ponies. Honestly, I think a lot of the cookie cutter/FotM Engi builds are overrated, & I really enjoy doing so well without using them.
I’ve had people giggle outloud when they see me running around with 2 pistols, until I top the board for the match & they ask how many kills I had/what build I am/how I killed them so fast. Nobody laughs then.
