is really hurting the viable options of engi, I feel like atleast one of the tool belt skills of a utility or one of the skills in the kits should be a reliable stun breaker.

We already have to equip our kits (which is presumably our “special class mechanic”) then we all know a stun breaker is basically necessary in the current meta which leaves us with not many other choices in build variety.

Yea I had this issue all the time, really limits build possibilities. It’s one thing if we had stun breakers like ele or Mesmer. Where something we would end up choosing anyways is also a stunbreaker. For instance, following suit with other classes somethin like elixir b would have a stun breaker on it as well.

I feel that way too. I need at least one kit and one stunbreaker to feel like I’m at least playing effectively. That leaves only one slot really.

Condi removal for last slot, probably another elixir from 409. And people wonder why condi nades is effective…it’s the engineer build that has all the elements of a build in it!

I would like to see a stunbreaker on a turret or a kit, and condition removal on a turret. Another viable option would be to have a higher number of “instant” skills like flamethrower 5. Some professions are able to get by with “psuedo” stunbreaks on their weapon skills.

Would be nice if they would add stunbreak to our trait elixir.
That would be stunbreaker at 75% when you need itmost.
Think that would be four stunbreakers. That couldbe in one built.

I am someone that doesnt run with a stunbreakers. I dont lik elixir s or the one in trait.
Goggles not worth the slot.

Just made an engineer today to mess around in sPvP with and I noticed this.

Ended up running with 4 kits anyway.
I regret nothing!

That’s the engineer spirit! I love my 4-kit build. Who cares about being super effective using 5 ground-targeting skills that all feel the same—when you could be swapping kits every 3 seconds and never seeing two fights go exactly the same way?

The Warrior can have ‘Balanced Stance’ trigger automatically if they trait into Defence for Master Tier. We have our Elixir S at cheaper (Adept) but it triggers at 25% health.

I think if they had it work the same way as Balanced Stance does for the Warrior it would be much more useful.

But ya OP, a stunbreaker is a MUST (especially for sPvP).

FT is the Kit that needs the Stunbreaker.

FT skill #5 should have Stunbreaker added.
imo 3 birds with 1 stone.
A kit gets a Stunbreaker.
The lame placeholder FT skill is now very useful.
The FT’s utility now better makes up for its lesser damage.

I would actually appreciate devs if they made “Kit Refinement” also have a stunbreaker. This could possibly be a good makeup for the 10 second ICD of this trait.

As far as I can tell, the ONLY profession to get a stunbreaker on their weapon sets is Thief. Which is on the sword, a tanky weapon for Thief.

Don’t hold your breathe.

Instead, I nominate a few of our Tool Belt skills as Stun Breakers.

Conceptually the most logical kit skill as a stun breaker is the Elixir Gun tool belt Healing Mist.
Alternatives that could make sense as stun breakers are Tool Kit #4 Gear Shield or Flamethrower #5 Smoke Vent.

This is a problem in spvp for all classes. It almost washes out.
AS far as stun breakers go Elixir S is one of the best ones in the game.

This comes down to Kits being forced into the utility slot you can theory craft Engineer all day long but you will always come back to “if i had this, this, this…oh wait i have to reserve a slot for a kit…” because Kits are what makes up that Swiss Army Knife with the dull knife Anet wants us to be.

Suddenly that really good build that would put you on par with some of the stronger professions is obsolete because you just get slaughtered by anyone and everyone if you don’t have a stun breaker/reliable condition removal depending on the situation.

For example I’m all for trade offs in the name of balance and id use Rocket Boots 90% of the time if i didn’t have to give up ANOTHER utility slot for another stun break making my build less effectiveness just to get my self out of the stun i just put my self int..yo dog i heard you like..no…i wont.

Just give me a trait grandmaster minor what ever that would let me slot a Kit into the empty weapon slot we run around with in it would open up endless build options imo..

Till then ill enjoy that underdog feeling when i Prybar all the things.

This is where the nerf to kit refinement hurts a lot: when stunned…

As a 4 kit engineer myself, kit refinement was my ‘poor man’s stunbreaker’. Not in the sense that it broke stun, but swapping from kit to kit gave me healing, condition removal, cripple, bleeding, burning…

Flamethrower still gives me the blind usable when stunned of course.

I use runes of grenth as well, so going med kit a second gives me a chill aoe which also helps a lot to mitigate the damage.

Longer stuns are an issue. Short stuns i can eat.
Still now, but less effective with the Kit refinement nerf. Mostly because things got less reliable now, and whatever I pick first: I will lose some of the other effects.

we know about elixir S, which you could have gathered from reading the posts

For me, as an Asura, elixir S bugs out so bad on the camera that I stopped using it. It’s not like I can actually get something done when it procs because of this bug anyhow. By the time my eyes and mouse adjuted, the effect is over…

The posts are mostly about what other options we have, besides the most common stunbreakers, like elixir S. And if we can afford not to use them, and why kits have no stunbreaker, etc… read a bit, it’ll become clear.

they missed a chance with the change to Elixir Gun#4. It’s nice that it is a blast finisher now. But a stunbreaker would have been more fitting. Like a kit’s version of rocket boots.
The change is great! Just saying they missed a chance on giving kits a stunbreaker.

FT#5 is a very good candidate too indeed.

- Acid bomb is now a stunbreaker
- Smoke screen now lasts 3s and pulses every second
- Rocket boots cures all non damaging conditions, leaps forward, knockbacks target and removes 2 boons.

So.. this would fix so much imo.
