Hi everyone! Recently I made a topic about an elixir build and the ideal weapon for it. Well, I’m leveling up and it’s about time to choose an elite skill. Now, my first instinct is to go for Elixer X, because, well, it’s an elixir. However, the only things I’ve heard about it are overwhelmingly negative.

Could someone please explain to me why? If fast acting elixirs drops its recharge time significantly and potent elixirs makes its duration longer, why is it a bad elite skill? Both of its forms look pretty good.

For the record, I’m a 10/30/0/30/0 build engineer focusing on pistols and elixir utilities.

You can’t use any of your utilities while you’re in the elixir x form, you are basically in “suicide mode”. Oh and your dmg is crap when you’re in both forms.

It’s really just an option for a bunker Engineer, for #5 stomp to keep people off the point, but in essence, when you use it, you know you’re about to die.

There is a way to cancel it and still keep the stability buff from it, but it’s most likely considered an exploit that will get fixed in the near future.

Well the effects of elixir arent too bad but when you fight another player, and sometimes in pve, you want an elite that you can rely upon. The risk factor is usually too big and as such supply crates outshines elixir x.

You’re right. I haven’t used it in quite some time and just tried it in the mists and it wasn’t working anymore.

The elixir traits are kinda buggy. Often times, something causes them to not even work at all with Elixir X. (May have been since fixed, but the cooldown trait was definitely not working for the longest time)

As the others have said, Elixir X is more or less your suicide elite. It has situational uses, like for bunkering, holding a small area (particularly Tornado form), but it’s so easy to just mitigate, or outright ignore. In tornado form, anyone can simply stay out of range and pelt away at you. The small health increase from Rampage doesn’t justify the loss of your utility skills and kits.

Supply Crate provides several bandages worth 1k heal each (at 80) that anyone can use, is a blast finisher, stuns, and drops several turrets which can buy you some time, not to mention, provide AoE Regen.

It’s true that it’s not too hard to AoE to get rid of the turrets completely, but that’s still pressure taken off of you.

I see. Thank you all for the information. Yeah, if it takes away my ability to use the very elixirs that I rely on, it seems pretty bad. I’ll stick with 7-Series golem instead. Damage and distraction.

Many of the elixir traits still don’t work with X, as well a X being rubbish. Typical engineer story, not only badly balanced, but riddled with bugs.
