“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
I know you said at your stream the moa is just a template / nothing is final. But I just wanted to encurage you guys (ANet) to create something really engi style, rather than copying other profession skills. So right now it’s a 2 sec aoe moa transform right?
What would you guys like to see? What kind of engi style would fit most to this?
IMO I’d like to see some kind of EMP elixier, wich is noticable in mid air (something like red glow, so enemies have dodge counterplay) wich simply dazes all targets for 2 sec. Transforming is a mes thing, not an engi thing.

Engineer’s style is using SCIENCE⢠to copy other professions’ tricks. We cannot cast fireballs or summon meteors, but we can use a Flamethrower or a Mortar. We cannot use magic powers to heal, but we can use potions, syringes, healing mists, etc.
A daze would be visually unimpressive for an elite toolbelt skill (Mortal gets an Orbital Laser, so there’s already strong competition). Plus, Elixir X is already a transforming skill.
I would say let Mesmers keep their Moas, and give us Quaggans
It would help the enemy know they are under the shorter Engi morph instead of the much longer Mesmer one.
Turn them into skritt
Would be nice if the toolbelt skill had some synergy with the main skill. Not much point transforming someone into a skritt and then tornado-ing them to safety.
Would the skill be AoE like all other elixir toolbelt skills, or targeted?
Should the toolbelt skill have a random factor, much like the main skill? If they stick to transforms, they could pick from a pool of random animals if they wanted.
Some kind of cage skill could be cool… what about a potion that caused a ring of trees to grow around an enemy temporarily, trapping them inside and blocking line of sight? That way you could drop it on someone and bounce them against the walls a few times with one of your transforms before it wore off.
Or something unique – how about a potion that causes any stealthed enemies in a radius to be revealed temporarily by dying them with a chemical agent? Call it phosphorus glowpaint or something.
I guess they can do what they want with it, will have to see whether they decide to make it something worth using or not.

It doesn’t necessarily have to synergize with the base skill, you don’t have to use the 2 skills together. Some of our other skills overlap, like Elixir S, for example, which gives you 2 different escape tools/panic buttons/stomp enablers or Elixir C that gives you 2 condi cleansers. Elixir U base skill wants you to engage in a fight, while the toolbelt skill is a purely defensive one.
The current version, which is still WIP of course, works the same as the other Toss skills. It’s a ground targeted AoE Moa transformation. It lasts around 2 seconds and has a rather short cooldown.

I just feel that elixir x needs to pack more punch. my thoughts are listed here

along with a few other thoughts.
Make it a mechanical moa. Keeps it fun but more our style.
MOA!! Must be a moa!! Else our vengeance on mesmers will not be complete!:>
I’d say Elexir X should transform us into some kinda slime creature or give us slime properties and boons (also pulsing stability) while letting us continue using our weapon/utility skills.
Toss elexir X should transform our enemies into slimes (that can’t do much) or give allies the slime transformation bonuses noted above.

That would require new animations for every single ability, not to mention weird interactions, like a slime creature swinging a hammer. It will never happen.
All transforms use unique skills for that reason.
It could be easier than you might think.
switching the texture to something green / blue / purple that is slightly transparent is something that the box of fun already can do anyways. Same with necro spectral walk, or pink, transparent, glowing mesmer phantasms.
Giving us a unique transformation shouldn’t be that hard, designing the skills enemies would get might be, unless they copy the property from ooze-npc-skills and give them proper Icons / names / balancing.
Have it throw a canned tornado that launches people
