Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a lack of RNG in our elite skill?
Proposal: Make the skill random the first use and then it switches to the opposite form when it comes off CD.

Example:
Match starts and you use Elixir X for a random form. You get Brute Form.
120s pass and you use Elixir X again for a guaranteed Tornado Form.
120s pass and you use Elixir X again for a guaranteed Brute Form.
et cetera.

Or if it is too hard to make it random only the first time; the devs can choose whichever it starts with by default and just make it so it alternates.
Thoughts?

I say, scrap the whole elite and give us something unique. We’re engineers, not scavengers. We build stuff. So why are we borrowing other professions’ elites? Give us a steam-powered-mech-suit transformation or a Mr.-Hyde-crazy-scientist tonic or something with unique models and skills. The necro lich is so awesome looking and completely unique. Can we has something like that??

I wouldn’t want them to remove it; my build thoroughly enjoys creating chaos on the battle field by toss bodies all around the place in torado and brute is good single target cc [usually good for stopping someone from healing when they get low on health].
I don’t think any one skill is as awesome for decapping a point than Elixir X.
2m [96s traited] CD means its always up when you want to cause trouble.

I do however like the idea you proposed of us turning into IronMan. They should remove the mortar for it. That way we have two transforms like the necros!

Most versatile elite skill in the game! sad face
I’ve learned how to very effectively use it in my build due to me feeling like supply crate was always on CD when I needed it.
The RNG is a drawback but its best to use it purely to knock foes over rather than a crutch when you feel you are losing. IMO the removal of the coin toss would make this a lot more useful.
Its current form is alot more useful than mortar. Without the RNG it would be on par with supply crate [even though it doesn’t suite everyone’s playstyle].

I would rather like to have something unique (and good, possibly) for the class instead of a choice between two recycled skills. It could even be something like “all stats +300 for 20s, then all stats-100 for 5s (eh, it’s faulty)”.

If we are talking about new elites i propose a rocket launcher kit or sniper kit. Did not think about the skills yet but it would work like this:
The kit can be swapped to at anytime just like our current kits, but it has charges like ele conjure weapons, different skills use different ammount of charges. This way we could use it in rotations just like our normal kits but once the charges are over it gets a reasonable but long cd.

Well, truth be told, i had proposed something similar to that (but more complex) in the suggestion section. No one cared, though.

The whole not knowing what to expect is as much of an advantage as it is a hindrance. Enemy players don’t anticipate the Engineer turning into a tornado, or a brute and steam rolling over them in that first few “pulled a rabbit out of a hat” moments. Though for the rest of a sPvP match, that trick is not going to fool them anymore. For WvW however it remains a useful method to cut through a door smacking zerg, but once your safely inside and it comes off CD it’s pretty much time to change it to literally anything else that can strike from the walls. In PvE your better off with the supply crate to be perfectly honest, predictability of Elixir X or not, it’s better for the party.

To be frank I don’t feel it’d make a difference to my use of the skill if it were random or a see-saw between the two as the O kitten uggesting.
