Sprays will be, overall, weaker since you’ll have distance issues.
Tranq allows you to get in close with your opponent having weakness already on them.
Glob allows you to either get away or pursue at a distance.
If you’re already that close with either one of them you’ll be better off in another kit for the same price.
Not to mention that tranq spray can only apply its effects once since weakness stacks in duration; mixed with viper even a three hit spray would result in too long an application if you’ve cripple following right up.
Also AE Weakness on an auto attack would probably be OP.
I don’t have any issues with EG. I use it when it’s applicable, and I slot something else when it’s not.
And to echo DGraves I find the range on #1 & #2 very useful. For keeping pressure on while you’re closing a gap, or when chasing/getting away.
EG is good as it is. #2 just needs a bug fix/change (it doesn’t bounce 3 times in a 1vs1) and a speed buff. A range increase to #1 would also be nice.

I think solutions like these should not be the way we should go about the projectile problem (assuming it was raised because of how weak projectiles are in pvp).
Rather, we should be looking at why this game has so many reflects and projectile blocking.

2 is so incredibly hard to use, if the target even slightly changes direction it misses. You have to be like right behind them to get it to hit.

The reason for that is simply because it is an “action” game. Active defense is the core of the whole thing which is rather unfortunate for some classes.
Weakness (EG 1’s skill) means that 50% of your opponents shots will glance off of you for reduced damage. Try standing in front of some Veteran on a level 80 map and only hit him with EG1. You might be surprised at how little damage he actually does to you.
EG1 is one of my favorite ways in WvW of finishing off some poor pudknocker who’s exhausted his cleanses and heals and is trying to run away. The darts also track and do good bleed damage.
