Hey /engineer,

Returning to the game. Engi was my main before I took a break. I’ve been asked to bring a condi Engi to a raid team. I didn’t do much with Silver Wastes but I do have all the Sinister recipes. I’m looking at Viper but have just come back last week and haven’t had much time in game to acquire n craft.

My question, how much of a loss would I take running all Sinister or even Carrion or Rampagers at first? The group is lacking Condi so could I get away with something else till I can craft Viper?

TY
Blood~

Well, the most used one uses viper gear with sinister trinkets (at least metabattle says so)

I am an engineer – a pianist of destruction! Now please go back to standing in my AOE.

Ignore anyone telling you that sinister isn’t good enough for starters. Sinister armor and without sinister trinkets (because story achieves aren’t my thing) I was able to match the duration of a guildy running Vipers with identical crit and damage.

Viper deals a bit more damage than sinister, yet sinister is still totally fine as an equip itself. It’s even better for downscaled dungeons than viper, since now condi dura gets downscaled aswell (since it became an actual stat).

An engi running sinister instead of viper is like someone running sigil of force instead of night in a night dungeon – it’s totally fine, don’t worry too much about it.

Viper is always better than Sinister as long as you don’t hit the 100% Condi Duration. But like other said, Sinister is good. The only place you could start to see a difference would be at Gorseval or if you want to do raid on a regular basis.

something like 80% of a condi engis damage comes from having that main stat condi on every piece

rabid/sinister/viper is better than carrion/dire until you have enough crit to consistently proc napalm specialist, then it doesnt really matter

that was his question guys, not “what is optimal”

just dont go rampager

mind if I ask why? at least with ramapager your still getting power as opposed to rabid where you get increased condi dmg but lose out on a bunk of power. I only ask because i just finished my viper gear and am working on the sinister trinkets now but i’ve been using rampager for the time being.

I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

because precision is a weak main stat, especially without ferocity.

its ok to have like a couple pieces, but too much and suddenly your condis wont hit hard and you actually dont have much power damage despite those 2 huge glaring investments that you made by choosing rampager.

Thanks all for the input. Much appreciated. Looks like I’ll be crafting some sinister to start.

How long does it take to obtain the sinister trinkets doing the living story part2?

some of the achieves are soloable but for others you need to bring a group, the amount of time just comes down to how fast you can get through the content. maybe an hour or three.

I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

Most of your really hard hitting skills have really low coefficients and you have very few damage modifiers, so power isn’t doing much for your damage. Condition damage and condition duration are the two stats that add significant damage.

Precision is somewhat useful for condi builds, but the fact that almost all of the procs you can trigger on crit have very high proc chances and long cooldowns, so having high crit rates isn’t as important for triggering them.
