Engi Non Wrench, Grenade Build?
theres few things that are not “viable” in pve/dungeons/wvw. Its a matter of what you feel like doing….sure you may not be as helpful as you could be, but even 35 fractal you can just roll the dice on traits and utilities and still complete it, and non of the dungeons are difficult. Wvw your one dot in the great scheme of things…..so, do whatever you find entertaining.
I use the 30/0/30/0/10 trait plus full Lyssa runes for precision. Wayfarers trinkets add more toughness and some vitality with some Invaders thrown in. I use rifle or FT and elixirs, sometimes tool kit when needed.
With this build, I can take on 3-4 mobs or 2 vets in PvE or just run past them. In WvW, FT is useful for zerg fights, rifle when solo. I don’t do sPvP so this may not do much there, but I’ve found this build gives a lot of survival in most situations. I’m sure it can be refined, but I’m still learning. :P

Or.. you could do it with just any build which have 30 in grenadier and can press 1 fast enough?

Firearms: Precise Sights, Fireforged Trigger, Juggernaut
Alchemy: Fast-Acting Elixirs, Deadly Mixture, Cleansing Formula 409
Zerker + Ruby for DPS set, Knight/Soldier + Emerald for survival set.
For dungeons, slot Flamethrower and Elixir R on your bar and leave them there. You can freely rotate out Elixir Gun for a second elixir if you feel Elixir C, B, or S is more situationally useful.
For WvW, use the Flamethrower in zergs and then swap to your Tool Kit in 1v1/roaming situations.
