So I am leveling an engineer, my first alt since launch (played thief). I have enjoyed it so far, but how are engineers at WvW? I know that a good engineer is amazingly hard to kill, but how is their sustain, and learning curve?

I went from thief to engi as well, I use a 2 kit condi build and they are a lot harder to manage than a thief for sure lol. The learning curve isnt too bad but coming from a thief it is there. Sustain is so so. Shadow arts thieves have better condi removal and sustain. Youll also soon realize while roaming you cant escape getting ganked or zergs nearly as well. Engi I feel like is more rewarding and has a higher skill cap

Also a tip keep rocket boots on your tool bar lol. You probably have watched yishis play his engj…and go with 3 kits but I honestly dont know how he does it without rocket boots. That being said if you havent watches him you should check it out. Yishis engineer. He explains extremely well

Yishis uses rocket boots in many of his videos.
Rocket boots effectiveness depends on who you run with (or if you are solo).

He usually replaces Rocket Boots with Elixir Gun, so he can still keep the leap.

Check out Teldo. He is the engi I learned the most from when I first started playing this game.

Rocket boots are much easier to use than the acid bomb (which requires learning to turn and blast) and you go farther.

Acid bomb has a faster cool down and the elixir gun has all sorts of additional utility.

check out the ff/rifle build in my sig, been using it for ages, works well for roaming and zerg (just change the trinkets around a bit as mentioned at bottom of 1st post)

So I am curious what the meta Condi build is/going to be. I am very interested in Condi gameplay, and know engi is pretty good at Condi stacking. Any one know?

Thats the other popular one. But with mine you get perma vigor (not just 50%) and HT recharges at 25%, without wasting stats by going into tools

mine too but i dont like it in a condi build

I use the slick boots that spill oil where you walk in combination with rocket boots, it also comes with a neat toolbelt skill that makes the rocketboots even better. Running away is no problem anymore. With my P/S I also get to do a chain knockdown and stun while whittling them down with conditions, makes for a pretty decent burst downing most professions that don’t have insta-cast skills. Add the sigil of nulification and stability stops being an issue too 33% crit chance and the grenade trait makes for one removed boon every two throws, pretty decent I’d say.
