I’ve been rocking an engi since launch and have kinda stuck to dps. However, my dps is so so. I need to up my gear but im not sure where to go with my build. Right now im using a condition dmg/power/precision-vitality FT/elixirs build with 0/30/0/30/10 in traits. Guess i wanna know whether i should change my build alil or start from scratch before i get in too deep.

I find that FT doesn’t chuck enough conditions to worry about condition damage. If you drop that in favor of more precision and power, you should see an overall increase.

Try Berserker gear if you’re going for DPS. Power > Precision=Crit Dmg

alright for sure…. im also rocking dual pistols… should i change that up as well?… and i mean im not against tryin another build…. im tryin to have more fun with this engi

If you’re still planing on using FT as your main “weapon” I’d drop P/P, and switch to P/S or Rifle.

ya i figured i should stick with rifle or p/s…. p/p havent been doin much for me anyways… im just not sure i wanna stay FT though…. i like it, but i feel like im not doin enough to survive fights or contribute to a grp…ive seen on other posts ppl talkin about grenades and tool kit or bombs but idk

It works pretty well in PvE. When I PvE (Fractal, Dungeon run) I switch my stun breaker (Elixir S) for Elixir Gun. Now you can damage the ennemy AND heal your party.

The combo from 100 nade buiuld is also really strong in PvE. 16k++ damage in one combo is really good. Also, once your combo is on cooldown, just throw grenade. If you take the shrapnel traits in explosion, you can stack up to 10-12 bleed on an ennemy. You also can stack up to 25 vulnerability on ennemies. 25% damage for the team is awesome.

If you get in troubble, use gear shield, net shot, jump shot or elixir gun.

I have a lot of success in fractal with this build. Farming is also really easy.

Just one warning : Spamming your grenade is annoying to do, as you have to spam the keys, no auto attack. My finger hurt after a FotM :P

I’ve tried Grenades, but it was murder on my fingers. I’m currently doing mostly DEs, and World Completion with a FT HGH build triple dipping on Might duration runes. For WvW and Dungeons I’ll add in EG and swap some traits around if necessary.

Flamethrower is fine for PvE. Tanky, good aoe damage and minimal effort to play. Go 0/30/10/30/0 with full knight’s equipment and either precision runes + lifesteal food or might stacking runes. Direct damage > condition damage for the flamethrower, especially since your might stacks will provide you with more than adequate condition damage.

Alright for sure!… that sounds good….so i need to get away from condition dmg, focus power and precision and u said berserker gear?

whats different about going /30/10/30/0 over what im doing?

Also, what other tools should i be using? If i stick to FT… i have been using Elixir B and C
