I know its still very early but some many combo of traits and don’t seem to have as much synergy as b4. Now we have to take a who trait line when we just want want thing from it.
Lots of good traits got gutted, just feel like things build were better before the update.

I have to agree with the OP. I really, truly, believe that the entire reason for the change was to make it easier for Anet to keep the professions “balanced”.
The game has changed from, lets say, 100 different possible builds to 25 different viable builds. The actual number is not really relevant, but the number of viable builds HAS decreased – which is good for Anet (it makes their job easier) but not so good for us players.
Power shoes is gone, cloaking device is gone. I have go to into the whole tools line just for speedy kits.
The trait the reduced both flamethrower and eg is gone. Alot of the Master traits are better than the grandmaster traits and now you cant take them instead. I could go on on but whatever.
Build variety also to a big hit meh..

Not sure why you are complaining about power shoes when it got replaced by a better trait – mecha legs, you get the 25% movement speed and what used to be leg mods in the one trait.
And yes build variety did take a hit, but on the other hand in theory it should be easier to balance.

Power Shoes = Mecha Legs
Well you can take 3 defensive trait lines to achieve overpowered sustain with minimal dps loss.
At least on a berserker/celestial spec you can trait alchemy tools and inventions.
The new bunker down combined with protection injection, backpack regenerator, whatever the med pack on heal thing is, power wrench, mecha legs, adrenal implants and other stuff!
Didn’t have time to test sadly but does automated medical response, the one that recharges your heal when you drop under 25% hp really has 10s icd as in the tooltip? Cuz that’s a bit insane.
Burning damage got buffed.
Team support got buffed.
Rifle damage got buffed.
Why is engi in a worse place? Cele rifle is even better than it was before patch, even if some other builds have closed the gap considerably with the amulet changes.
My old build is gone. I was using turrets and flamethrower. Now I’m basically forced to use grenades or bombs and elixirs. They left only one uselles turret trait and nerfed flamethrower. Why? It wasn’t overpowered or anything.

turrets/FT sounds pretty subpar in both pve and pvp…the ease of use certainly makes them convenient though, FT was a blast while leveling =D
edit- i also loathe grenades but I think without grenades one is better off playing another professions …they are just 2 gud to pass up

Over all there is a major buff here in terms of DPS but I get many players favorite builds disappeared. As it is right now we likely got the best buff of the lot. Nades and bombs are just plain better from an ease of use stand point. They made vulnerability stacking and swiftness (if your precision built) pretty easy. We got more on demand group support which is just a really good bonus. We did lose some thing but over all I like most of the changes so far.

I’m having a blast in wvw. Just mortar kit alone is amazing, but with some of the other trait, so much fun. Hgh is amazing now also. Just give it time. Sure, in past you have more ‘mini trait difference’ builds, now you got less builds but with bigger trait impact difference. And tbh i think engineer still leads builds amount, especially with so much good utility skills. Only ranger might come close with their new beastmatery line wich seems to have lot of pet builds wich different directions.
I have to say that the more I play, the more fun I’m having. I’m now all in to Inventions for Mecha Legs in lieu of Steamlined Kits. The constant proc’ing of attacks was driving me crazy.
Inventions is showing some real promise….
My SD build got nerfed by removing Sitting Duck and Scope. I’m no longer the best “Thief” when it comes to quick bursts in WvW
