Let me start off by saying that right now, I feel like I have a good build. It works for me, and I can generally win most 1v1s, even if they are one right after another with no rest between. I’m more looking for ways I can improve that I haven’t accounted for.

So, first, my abilities and reasons for using them)

Rifle: Great Kiting Potential.
Healing Elixir: Low Cooldown, decent heal, comes off cooldown at 25% when traited, and I can get something to help me survive with the toss.
Rocket Turret: The Knockdown has a low cooldown, and is very nice. My only qualm with this is the long cooldown when picked up, and even longer cooldown if it gets 3-4 shotted (which most people can do easy)
Flamethrower: Blind during stuns/knockdowns/other CCs, EXTREME damage if I can get the explosion on my 2 (mostly against ranged), Climbing damage and lots of opportunitys for “on crit” or “on hit” to trigger. Plus, the damage is nice, too. Also: Knockback.
Elixir B: I was using this until just a little while ago. 6 stacks of might (flamethrower traited), Retribution, armor and swiftness? oh yeah. However, I recently changed this to:
Hidden Pistol: Jumpback, plus the toolbelt use is some good damage.
Supply Drop: For a charr engineer, its probably the best you can get atm. I don’t have Mistfire or Charrzooka.

For traits, I go 20 Power, 30 precision, 20 Toughness. I take the on crit burn and turret knockback in power, chance to vuln on crit, lower cooldown on abilites, and 200+ toughness and 5 stacks of might while in flamethrower for precision, and +power from toughness and +10% movespeed in combat in toughness.

Right now, I’m only 44 so all this is from sPvP. In WvW, I do fairly well, too. This build stacks power/Precision and any crit damage I can get along the way. Beserkers, basically.

Edit: Also: I run with bleed on crit runes to my weapon.
