I am a little lost. I’ve been leveling an Engineer for a few days now and I’m sort of struggling on where to find a decent -stat- guide for PVE / Dungeon builds. I came here thinking it might guide me through that. I have an 80 Guardian already, but I wanted to try out something that seemed more fun to play around with (NOT saying Guardians are not fun to play, just want to level a new character is all!).

I love the idea of what an Engineer is capable of. Though I need help with setting up what sort of stats are the most important (like condition or precision, etc etc). This way I can begin focusing my points into a tree specific to those needs. I’m looking for a fair amount of DPS / DMG output but still able to survive a dungeon run with whatever I bring in.

I am only (at the time of this post) level 13 but I need to start looking at what tree to start putting my points in to so I can get used to the style of play early on while still leveling and not later (as I found out too late with my Guardian).

Any help, links, or advice is much appreciated, thank you for your time!

1) Engineers tend to get use out of all of their abilities. What I did was play a particular playstyle for a bunch of levels, then switch.

2) Zerker for flat DPS (Grenade Kit, Bomb Kit, Flamethrower), Rabid for condi DPS (Grenade Kit), PVT/Soldier’s/Invader’s for some bunker builds (Flamethrower, Toolkit, Bomb Kit), Cleric’s for other bunker builds and support builds (Elixir Gun, Bomb Kit).

3) Highest possible DPS from range belongs to Grenade Kit with either type of gear. Rabid means you’ll be tougher and will deal condition damage, which might be impractical due to the 25 condition cap. Berserker is direct damage, which always works. I personally favor condition builds, but I am aware that they aren’t in a good spot right now. Highest DPS period might belong to Bomb Kit with Berserker’s, I’m not entirely sure.

4) Regardless of your build, grab 10 points in Tools for speedy kits. It lets you get 5s of swiftness on kitten cooldown, which more or less means perma swiftness.

Just finished leveling my engineer and the easiest way I found to level was going all into power gear and using a bomb kit. Bomb #4 makes you practically invincible to all open world mobs and then all you have to do is roll your face on the keyboard a few times and collect your loot bags. Works well even in the story missions.

Tiny Icono – Engineer / The Icono – Elementalist

Long time engineer player, and out of my 4 lvl 80s I found it the easiest to level. Best advice I can give… BOMBS! With bombs and good kiting skills you will take down almost anything with no issues. Engi was the only class that I was able to do “most” group events and solo champions (melee ofc)

And now I run a full zerker bomb build, some will argue that grenade outperforms bombs but IMO bombs are king. Being in melee requires you to be able to dodge though so get quick with those fingers and learn boss mechanics and enemy tells.
