Is there any benefits to playing a specific race as an engineer in your opinions? I am starting one soon and would like any input you would be willing to share, thanks!

Racial skills are all pretty useless overall.. you never use them at end game because they’re weaker than normal skills (for good reason, else all people would be one race for the most powerful racial.)
So pick whatever race you like the most. If you can’t decide I’d suggest Asuran because they fit the role of engineer the best (they’re all inventors and geniuses and tinkerers.)
My engineer is a norn.

I didn’t jump into the game today, but bear rush is probably nerfed, so no there’s no advantages. It’s all cosmetic and rp, so:

Go Asura. It’s small meaning harder to click on making you a harder target.

The hobosacks actually look pretty cute on us.
They are small and don’t stand out.
All other races are Bookahs.
The animations are hilariously adorable.
Asura + Quip makes me smile every day.

The racials don’t really matter. Pain Inverter is actually pretty nice, but not worth losing a kit for. Supply Crate or go home.

Honestly, screw humans, screw asuras, go charr or sylvari.

Concerning racial stuff. Charr lets you spice your Static Discharge build up with Hidden Pistols and the Shrapnel Mine can be a nice addition to any sort of monstrously high condition damage build. That’s about it.

Not to mention the char elite kit the charzooka. It is the only way to have a 5 kit build.

Yeah…I originally had a Norn, deleted remade to Human. However, if I could bring myself to play cats or mice I believe those are better options, ever so slightly.

Asura are small and do not telegraph their animations so noticeably, which might have benefits in WvW. Charr have the racial mentioned above, PvE/WvW.

Eh, not strictly true. The Engineer class uses mainly Charr tech, so from a lore/aesthetic point of view, Charr is actually the most fitting race.

In early start I made an asura engineer. Hate it after only 1-2 days. Deleted it and made a charr. Win.

It has been my main ever since.
