Engineer Weapon Options
I disagree.
IMO Eng has plenty of weapon choices.
Asking for 2h hammer for the Engi? Why? Do you work in the forge every day? Do you have the muscles to man that thing?
From a RP point of view, the 2h hammer for Engi is like the Pistol for the necro.

Well.. it really depends on the perspective. Look at the charr for example, charr mass produce a vast armoury of war materials.. from armors to weapons over tanks pretty much anything. Most of these things are big.. made of big and obviosly heavy parts, take a casual walk through the citadel and just look arround. You gonna see huge crucibles, hangars full of tanks and turrets and much more. Guess what.. those things are to the biggest part build by the iron legion including the very citadel you would be in. Those dudes (and my proudly choosen fraction) are pretty much the pioneers of the engineer profession. And now lets look at a charr on his\her own. I think there is plenty of muscles to swing a hammer aswell need for a heavy duty tool like this to for example drive big studs into holes to keep armor places of vehicles in spot, hammer big plates to shape etc. As for other races.. engineers build stuff.. mostly war machinery and fortifications in the universe of guild wars, so regardless of what race.. a heavy duty tool like a hammer would be needed at some point or another. So yea.. if you would go by the RP vibe.. id say a hammer would be actually more fitting then you might think on a quick glance.
I would say Hammer, possibly Mace, but I doubt it.
When the weapon update hits, hammer for Engi is so obviously sure incoming as the main hand pistol for the Mesmer. Community want it soooo hard, it’s almost silently confirmed.

one of my pve builds involve using tool kit melee just because.
and yes hammers would also be sweet. also scythes for necros for a melee cleaving weapon and it would pave the way for the introduction of the dervish. pleasepleaspleasepleasepleaseplease
More options is better. it provides more possible archtypes for every class without arbitrarily dictating what the “feeling” of a class should be according to some other fantasy universe that has nothing to do with guild wars. And A-net is working on making those options happen.

Imo the class absolutely lacks stability for melée-combat.
Maybe with an evade- and gap-closing weapon-skill though . .
Everyone – get on your Engineer and find a hammer that you can equip.

(BTW – since this morning I got better armor for my Engineer)

Most Engineer builds are already used in melee combat, and most groups stack on nearly every boss fight.
Aside from those who insist on standing at 1500 range as they lob grenades, if we had Hammers most Engineers wouldn’t really be any closer to combat than they already are.

This reminds me of the time I literally opened up the Trading Post, looked over all the hammers for sale in Preview, and pouted.

Well i understand your point of view, but some of us would like to see what melee is like with a weapon thats specifically designed for it. I mean it wouldn’t hurt for them to add them in you always have the option to not use it all, but us other players may actually enjoy the option.
Torch, Main Hand Shield, off hand Rifle.

Uhm … do you mean:
Torch main hand, Shield off hand, Rifle … ? It still makes no sense …

No I mean a Torch in either off hand or main hand, or a Shield in the main hand or a Rifle in the off hand. Shield is already off hand, and making an off hand “Rambo” style Rifle would just be something bizarre I could picture an Engineer doing. Maby a control or hybrid like damage/effects that would compliment Main hand Pistol.
