One of my biggest complaints with the original engineer was that the tech was clearly charr design. While you would think an asura engi would be a good fit, it was actually one of the least sensible combinations possible from a lore perspective. Asuran technology is a combination of tech and the arcane, while charr tech is combustion based which asura just do not use.

Now however it feels like engis use a combination of charr and asuran tech. The gyros definitely appear to be more fitting to the asura and there’s a trait for turrets that gives them a reflective shield that doesn’t look like anything charr use.

Out of curiosity how does everyone else feel about the appearance of the engineer now? Does it still seem awkward for an asura to be running around tossing charr tech around?

“Please, you can look down on people without having to be physically above them.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”

I main an asura engineer and to me, it doesn’t feel weird at all. Turrets may have a very charr-inspired design, but they are not used anyway, apart from Healing which is blown up instantly.

And since P/P is meta now, it doesn’t get better than an asura wielding HOPE.

Asura use magitech which is basically just magical elements infused into technology. Most of their technology is powered by magic-infused powerstones, so they’re not really “engineers”.
Charr on the other hand use actual engineering since they prefer machines to magic.

The magical components of Asuran tech just act as power sources primarily. It’s not as much mechanised magic as it is engineering fueled by magic.

Engineer is a newer class, from a lore perspective it could be assumed that charr shared their technology, it’s pretty obvious that the races are sharing what they have for the common good.

All waypoints are asura tech, the turrets are charr, ect.
