Engineer as my main? New to GW2
if you enjoy the feel of the class and are prepared to study wolfineer’s videos i would say go for it. it’s a super fun class, and with a good player can absolutely do all of the things you request.
currently a Boyfriend main :P
Waiting To ReRoll Mystic & Forget About Tyria
I’d start here. Tons of good info as previously mentioned. I recently started an Engi myself, about 3 weeks in and I’m still learning the ins and outs but I’m doing pretty good in WvW.
Go for it. With or without guides. It’s cool to read guides but it’s better to experience things by yourself.
this game is very easy to switch mains. I have switched mine now 4 times. it even lets you change stats on ascended gear (unlike all the other games in the genre), and ALL ascended is account bound, not soulbound, so if you find another toon you like better, just move your ascended there, switch some stats, good you’re to go.
engi is great, but I highly recommend trying out different toons, don’t get too bogged down on a single profession. also, for leveling, don’t level mainly in PvP. go unlock as many waypoints in all the maps as you possibly can. this will give you a good deal of experience and be less of a headache down the line when doing stuff with people.
if you will be doing a lot of WvW I also recommend getting yourself a full set of PVT or Dire armor with Superior Runes of Melandru in addition to your regular DPS set and switch them as needed. This will help you greatly.

go for rabid + dire for WvW
CONDI FT !! 15k++ burning melt most players ! specially zerker and those who cant clear condi fast enough
Incendiary Ammo + Incendiary powder + rocket kick + flame jet + torchblow + firewall or Throw Napalm combo !
I love engi. I also mainly PvP, and I have it as my main split with thief for now.
There are a ton of offensive and defensive options, and the kits/tool belt skills are really unique. You get so many skills, you have tools for almost every situation and build imaginable.
It takes a bit to get used to them all, but it’s definitely worth it. I also have a lot more fun trying out homebrew builds on engi since there are so many different, strong variations that synergise well.
