Engineer backpack changed then went back
No one else ran across this?
Nope, I think you need to leave “Da Rock” alone.
lol
Seriously though I didnt notice anything.
I was walking around and noticed that my backpack looked different. It looked great, the top was flat and rounded with only a bag showing out the top on one side and had an emblem, (not sure which one it is as I’m new, but it wasn’t a guild one as I am not in a guild).
It really looked nice and then I looked at a new shield and the backpack was gone! I did a search, but found nothing that looked like this backpack. Am I missing something simple or was it a glitch? (They did do a patch with 30 minutes of me seeing the change, but it was gone before the patch).
Let this be a lesson to you: every time you run across anything different or new, take a screenshot. Could be a really neat graphical glitch that no one has ever seen and that you’ll never see again.
You sure it was not the Universal Multitool?
No, the bag was rounded and closed on top. No bags sticking up and emblem was the same as the Defender’s starter shoulder pads.
It would never be categorized as a Hobo sack…….
I’m too new to know it wasn’t something you got when you leveled as I recently hit 30.
Try equipping each kit. When you are using them, your backpack will change to something different looking.
The only thing keeping me going is that Colin Johnson did mention knowing about the issue and is planning to look into it. No clue what that will entail, but maybe… just maybe… we’ll get some way to hide the hobosacks.
Dammit, it was the medkit backpack. Wish that was standard! :-)
Heh, i find myself once more considering “fanny packs”.
Was looking closely at the flamethrower, and once you remove the generic backpack you can have one flask at the hip, and another across the lower back.
Same goes with bomb kit, where the distinct element is a big keg (hello St. Bernard).
Grenades, tool and med kit could have distinctive elements at the hips.
And elixir gun could adopt something similar to flamethrower.
As long as ANet avoid (or minimize) back items with long draping elements (and given their reluctance on capes, that is almost a certainty) adding a lower back attachment point, and reusing the one handed stowed weapon points, should allow back items and engineer kits to coexist.
I guess they could even tie it into the back item checkbox. Box checked, give us the hip slung variant. Unchecked and we get the “hobo” version.

You and me both.
