I know of:

Condition w/ pistol + flamethrower or elixir gun or any of that
bomb kit
power build w/ rifle

is there more out there? I heard of HGH but idk how it works. Do the other kits / utilities have a place in other builds? Rocket boots, turrets, pain converter, etc.

it works easy. You get might for using elixir from toolbelt or as a skill. You get might if you swap in combat to a kit and you get might if you heal yourself. You get might you the sigil proc. Energy convertion matrix gives you 1% damage for every boon and this means you can get >20 stacks of might and >20% extra damage.

if you hit someone with grenades then you make >2.5k per grenade and this hurts a lot.

And Formular 409 + elixir S gives you survivability

My favorite build is the ‘parked farmer’ build. Basically you get to lvl 80 and park the engineer on useful nodes – farm them -then relog onto a real class such as a lvl 80 guardian or warrior.

I guess if you are really stuck on Engineer (or haven’t leveled another class to 80 yet) though the 100 nades build is OK and would recommend that. There are many more builds but are just too weak to use.

Our best builds right now are power grenades and condition grenades. Power uses rifle, toolkit, Elixir S, and kit refinement (100nades) and HGH condition spec is exactly the spec that Lupanic posted. In WvW, some people substitute toolkit for elixir B, for prybar. Condi nades is generally accepted as being better than 100nades in PvP, making it our official top build.

There are also some bomb specs. They are usually PvE support, but a few people still use them for WvW/PvP. Flamethrower would be a power build, usually PvE.

We do not currently have accepted builds featuring gadgets or turrets. I’m not an asura so I don’t know about pain inverter.
