So i noticed 2 things that make very angry about the engineer.

1) The water weapon.
The main attack is very slow and weak. I saw that when i had to the a quest underwater that i needed to kill some inquest. When i started attacking them i saw that i did 0 dmg and the attack was very slow. I got the exact same weapons that my warrior uses and it stilled lacked the dmg. I even attacked the same enemy in the same area and the warrior was a lot faster.

The engi harpoon did 177 dmg every second/The warrior did 212 at minimum range every 1/4 seconds (423 at max range)

Yea i know that the engi has a torpedo gun (but still equips a harpoon gun) that is homing and has AoF dmg but what good is that when it does no dmg at very slow speeds. This must be fixed

2) The turrets
The turrets are good as they stand but the option of picking them up or destroying them is useless. Picking the turret does not reward you at any way the cooldown is the same as destroying it and why would you go and pick up the turret when you can just press one of the F keys and be done with it.
I think that the cooldown must the shorter when picking them up.

I don’t use the underwater weapon except as a holding slot for sigils. Use grenades. Unlike the ground targeting for grenades on land, underwater, they are direct attacks. According to the design philosophy ANet created for engineers, they trade better damage for more versatility. This is unlikely to change.

Hi

1) The main attack of engineers weapons are allways crap, since they got such strong kits wich replace them.
I assume you are talking about PvE in your case. Under water you should be using grenades as ranged attack and definitly bombs as melee attack.
Bombs are by far the best dps weapon under water, being able to hit 5 tagets with a even higer attack speed than at land, wich is in the best case (25 stacks might, 25 stacks vulnerability, buffs, 5 targets) able to hit a dps of about 80’000.
However do not underestimate the 2-5 skills of the harpoon gun. the mines are also able to hit for 3x 10k per target, and the delayed sticky bomb thing hits too for a good amount. The other skills have good utility too.
But allways – avoid using it, it’s balanced because we got enough other skills to use. But yes, I agree, it’s incredible laughtable.

2) Picking up turrets reduces their CD by 25%, destroying it causes minor damage aswell a blast finisher AT YOUR POSITION (not the position where the turret was). Traitet it will even cause a knock back, wich can become quite handy in WvW (edge of the mist f.ex)

I’ve learn’t to play as a different ‘Engineer’ under water … as already stated, one uses grenades & bombs, the rest is up to you but I like turrets also.

On land, I don’t use grenades or bombs, just turrets. It’ll be better once I get some traits.

So you all are basically saying that the underwater weapon for engi is useless? If so that’s a big minus for this class. Think for the other players like me that didn’t know that or don’t have the granade or bomb skills.

Well bombs are already good untraited, just a bit harder to hit many enemies with the low range. However, if you are outnumbered, it’s often enough to lay down the smoke bomb for a long lasting blind, so you can spam 1 to finish most of them off before the blinds run out.
Untraited grenades are sadly really pretty weak, ye

Oh and don’t underestimate the elixier gun! It has some decent skills. Noone hates a heal field, neither an ally only condi cleanse. But what makes it really good is it’s skill 4, wich is a blast finisher and deals a massive amount of damage. Combined with the glue bomb it’s very effective. You also can interrupt your own jump back if you swap your weapons.
