Before the grenade nerf I read a thread on a different forum about the best class to farm Cursed Shore events; such as Penitent and Shelter. Some said the Elementalist was the best, while others said the Engineer (using grenades) was the best. I have an 80 Elementalist and I have about as hard of time tagging mobs at the right moment as I do with my 80 Ranger. So I decided to roll an Engineer. I’m level 45 atm. However, I am having a hard time with killing mobs fast; and I’m not finding the class all that fun. I don’t mind continuing to level if at the end of it all, I can actually get more loot from farming cursed shores. I have no other reason I would want to play this class.

So I want to know the opinion on these forums if this class is good at farming Cursed Shore events (mainly Penitent and Shelter). I am aware of all the advise not to play an engineer, but my only purpose is for farming those locations. It hard to farm there with mobs being dead the moment they are no longer invulnerable. Thanks.

I have an easy time farming any events with large numbers of mobs. Get Piercing Shots from the Firearms Line, use Dual Pistols and be mobile.

It takes 3 hits from my experience to get a drop from a normal monster on my engineer, honestly dont know if that is damage based or what.

I simply target the furthest monster way from me and let loose, everything inbetween gets hit, use Pistol #3 and #4 to ensure extra hits on things without much effort, and consider dropping supply crate into the middle of things as well.

Working on FT build, it seems to work quite well just need to be more melee for it.

Using dual pistols and a full turret loadout (Healing/Rifle/Flame/Thumper), I tag things I didn’t even know existed. They don’t generally like it, but them’s the breaks.

Also: Using the Rifle Turret, Rocket Turret and Flame Turret (the offensive turrets with the most range), an Engineer could, if the placement of the turrets was sufficiently difficult to reach (a cliff, for example, or particularly tall rock reached by leaping) to dissuade assailants, while still retaining the ability to fire upon enemies, theoretically contribute to a great big four events at a time, though they’d have to rely on their Elite skill to keep them alive while running around to collect.

Pistol MH with coated bullets or flamethrower tends to be my choice. I also turn off auto targeting so that if my target runs away from the main group I don’t loose chances to tag more mobs.

I’ve also had fairly good success with Motar, used for retaking Grenth’s. Left hand side of the chamber where you fight the fallen priest, you can get on top of the bookcase thingamejig there. Set up Mortar then AoE everything as it spawns. Once it expires, drop down and collect the loot.

Extremely strong at event farming.

Pistol & Pistol with Piercing Shots is extraordinary. Add turrets for more tagging, though I do like to include other utility skills to avoid the boredom!

Thanks for the input. I’ve been running around using pistols, flamethrower, elixir gun, and rocket turret. I can’t seem to get along with grenades because I have problems spotting my mouse cursor with it disappearing when I am adjusting the camera. Well, underwater they are great.
