I’m already at level 32 and been a fan of the flamethrower since I first got it. So far I got 10 points in tools for speedy kits and 10 in firepower for the ft cooldown thingy. I also use pistol/pistol, elixir B and U.
Advice on where I should go next with my skill points, please?

0/30/30/0/10 works so well. I’m not a fan of Elixirs because they work better in the Kit. Use Turrets, ground-targetted, to provide additional DPS and support. Supply Drop once you get your Elites will provide a stun, bandages (if the Healing Turret goes down) and additional turrets for overkill/CC. Place your manually dropped turrets around your target so that they aren’t able to be taken out in one AOE. Burn Supply Drop on Veterans or huge pulls. Survivability is extremely good. You can be overwhelmed by re-pop in later zones, but if you play is smart (which I don’t always do), you can limit the damage.

Remember that Rocket Turret has huge health and huge damage, but also a huge CD before you can drop it again. Kepp that in mind when you’re blowing/picking it up. Reducing CDs is a good thing. Health and Rifle Turret are fairly short duration CDs, so they won’t produce such a problem. Net Turret isn’t usually as helpful.

Juggernaut will add health, armor and might. You can tank a bit of damage, but you will still want to move around when you’re not trying to keep your target in the flamewall.

Anyway, that’s my build and experiences. It’s a good build for levelling, and has served me well in Orr. I’ve seen more than a few Flamegineers using similar builds.

Uhm, I don’t favor elixirs in particular but what other option is there for such a build? Turrets?
I should put my next 10points in Inventions? But which traits exactly?

Ah, you don’t know how to read builds. The build is top down, so 0 in the first row, 30 in the next, and so forth. Since you will get a reset when you buy the next book to open the next level of traits, you can reset it then. Since you’re into Elixirs, don’t bother changing it until you buy your next book. Leveling builds aren’t all that important, since the game plays well, so long as you keep your gear at your level. If things get too tough, go back and play the other low levels that you bypassed to get other gear or items that will improve your play.

Once you can buy the next book, do so and reset your traits to that. Remember, the bonus traits can be changed when you’re not in combat, so only the point allocations are important. I’ve selected the bonuses that benefit either turrets or the flamethrower directly.

I allocated my points in 5 point chunks as I leveled, not 10. Open one bonus, the get the next set. But that’s just my way of doing things. While leveling I cleared a zone a day to 100%, and that gained me about 3-4 levels. Do the events to maximize both karma and XP gains. You could get 5 levels or more if the zone is active with non-Champ events. You can easily solo Veterans, so long as they don’t do KD or stun.

Again, just my thoughts.

I meant the trait specials you choose at 10, 20 and 30.

Firearms: Fireforged Trigger, Juggernaut, Napalm Specialist
Inventions: Metal Plating, Autotool Installation, Rifled Turret Barrels
Tools: Deployable Turrets

I did kinda think that was all self-explanatory. They’re pretty much the only skills that benefit flamethrowers and/or turrets in those lines at those levels. Nope, looking over them again on the GW2 Wiki, they’re literally the only ones that benefit Turrets or Flamethrowers in those lines. Hope that helps.

Traits aren’t just about buffing your chosen kits, but also supplementing them when complementary skills and traits that make your load out much more comprehensive.

While leveling, consider skills available to you which add or improve the functionality of your play style.

Frankly, dedicating the entire inventions tree to turret traits does the exact opposite.

Traits like Stabilized Armour, Protective Shielding, Energized Armour, Cloaking Device, and Power Shoes often add much more longevity to the FT while leveling up.

As it stands, turrets are rather ancillary (but still immensely useful) to most builds because of their overcharge or toolbelt skills.

Because of this, equipping them, but spending your traits on other skills will be more effective until Anet makes some serious turret changes.

Boundaries are for the effortless.

There are other schools of thought, obviously.

Going Nades for lvling is really really bad until you get the Grandmaster trait at lvl 60.
