I’m kinda new to PvP, tough I main the engi in PvE and WvW for almost a year now. Originally I’ve chosen the class because I liked the idea of running around like a mad pyro, but ofc I dropped this soon after looking deeper into the other kits.

However, even if I had really big problems with getting familiar to PvP (too small build-variety, forcing me to play the engi in a manner that i simply don’t liked), the recent changes allow me to run a build that not only works awesome for me, but also comes close to my original childish impression of the engineer class.

Since the build-constructor does not seem to be adjusted to the recent changes, I’ll write it down directly:

traits:
explosives 4 – trait 5 & 9
firearms 4 – traits 1 & 8
inventions 0
alchemy 6 – traits 6, 7 & 13
tools 0

equip:
rifle – Sigil of superior accuracy & Sigil of superior Strength
PVT stats with Runes of Strength

Utilities:
Healing Turret
Flamethrower
Rifle Turret
Flame Turret
Supply Crate

It’s a semi dps/bunker-build that I currently use in our group to bunker down at home or decap crowded points if needed. Tough the flamethrower seems like a odd choice since it’s known for its weak power-dps, this build allows for quick might-stacking up to 25 stacks, and then peaks with a burst by using FT#2, blunderbus and jumping shot. Also the provided burning / bleeding, supported by the amount of condi-dmg from the might-stacks allows for further dmg-upkeep in case my target tries to flee.

The magnitude of turrets used allows me to burst-heal myself with blasting my 2 provided waterfields multiple times, while also giving me the option for further might-stacking or (with the flame turrets overcharge) to stealth myself for a stomp or escape.

Even the lack of a stun-breaker is an affordable risk imo, since the short cooldown on protection and the always accessible melee blind from the flamethrower give enough survivability to endure even the worst hammerstun-burst combos.

I personally have come to really love this build and would like to hear opinions about how to improve it further, without changing the core-principle of using experimental turrets, and flamethrower.

Engineer is love, Engineer is life.

Hello frands! Vee Wee here #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

I am glad you like the new turrets my frand! I do too! Unfortunately your build doesn’t have a lot of survivability! Even with all that toughness and vitality, without a lot of dodges or blocks, you’re even more fragile than a full zerk build! Furthermore the Flamethrower doesn’t do a lot of power damage on its own even with 25 stacks of might! And yes you can do mediocre burn damage with 25 stacks of might but without any other conditions to cover it, it will be removed pretty easily! Basically you’re a bunker that can’t bunk and a DPS class that can’t do good damage! The one thing your build is strong at is CC but without survivability you can’t really be a good decapper either and anyone with stability will eat you for lunch! If you want my advice, I’d suggest swapping out Rifle Turret for a kit; a kit that you will use more than Flamethrower! And get some more vigor or use Sigil of Energy!

Here is my sample build! The site isn’t updated so you’ll have to use a little bit of imagination!
