here’s a fun little video that I had laying around showing me playing my Cerberus build (quad turret build). Starts off with a fight versus a very persistent Mesmer. Then gets a little exciting
video is from before June 25th patch.
Build link should be in the video. Hope you enjoy. The build is updated
This banner was made by my buddy Grackleflint
Removed banner cause it had the word kitten

Oooooooooo im telllling your banner has cuss words in it!
Ah kitten me, i have to remove it lol
that was cool.
re: build:
I think you should take a look at shamans amulet with a cleric’s trinket, and instead of Self Regulating Defenses, give Backpack Regenerator a try.
you will almost double the heal from your healing turret, the regen from healing mist, turret, and regenerator will outpace many standard ticking dots, and find yourself to be able to resist more direct damage.
your crit chance is only 4%, so Incendiary Powder may not be a good deal, but with all your condi you could take shrapnel instead?
Personally, i would be more inclined to take deployable turrets instead of hair trigger, but it totally makes sense to have hair trigger since you have no kits to swap to.
<3 turrets
Hmm the stats from the build link don’t seem to be correct… my actual crit rate ingame is 12%. which is enough to proc incendiary powder every 10 seconds or so. shrapnel is a good choice too though. especially when supply crate is down. lots of kitten explodes. Now on to why i choose IP. Shrapnel gives exposions a 15% chance to give a nice bleed (is it 12 secs or so? i cant remember) . My 12% crit chance is pretty close to that, only difference is I have more chances to proc IP since the proc is resulted from all of my attacks. All i have to do is crit.
Backpack regenerator wouldn’t work since i’m not using a kit. But since i’m always up for trying out new things, i’ll see how i like the shaman/cleric amulet.
I love the idea of deployable turrets. i’ve used that one too. nothing better than throwing your healing turret on a ledge and blowing an enemy off of it. I would probably be more inclined to use it more often if you could overcharge is while its in the air so it goes off right when it lands, as opposed to trying to time it as it hits the ground to get off a successful overcharge.
edit: shaman/cleric amulet resulted in a 242 regen with is pretty nice. my burst heal was just over 7k. downside was my condi damage dropped. 74 bleeds, 494 burns :/
carrion/rabid gives me a 155 regen and just over a 6k burst heal. bleeds are 91, burns 571.
verdict: both good, I will now carry both with me. Shamans/cleric when i wanna be a little more tanky at the expense of less damage, when its not even really that much less. I have a feeling i’ll be using this amulet a lot. Thanks Nakoda
duh, on the regenerator.
what was i thinking.
i’ve got regenerator brain because i’ve been monkeying with 3 kits lately.
Does that trait scale with healing yet monkey boy? Sorry, been away for a few months
Backpack Regenerator: This trait has been reworded so that it doesn’t imply that it adds the regeneration boon. This now scales with healing power from 125 to 192 (1500 healing power).

Well done, Tex. This is a big improvement over your previous videos, especially the commentary.
Might I recommend this site for creating builds. It’s up to date and the stats are accurate.

Here’s the Shaman amulet version plugged into it:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqelIqSWnrSbF1LJRIF23wgKkXRKqs+/o4t0F-ToAg2CmIATBmDMDYSwsgNWYiA
This amulet, rune, and trait combo puts this build at a whopping 2244 toughness, and 3369 armor. With protection procs and stabilized armor, this will trivialize a lot of power burst.
Nakoda: I agree that Deployable Turrets is great utility and shouldn’t be ignored, but when you have no kit to fall back on it really helps to have Pistol 2 and 3 on shorter cooldowns. Same goes for Reinforced Shield. As for kits, I think a version of this build could do well with Flamethrower in place of Thumper, and Hair Trigger and Self Regulating Defenses swapped out for Fireforged Trigger and Backpack Regenerator respectively. Throw in Sigil of Leeching over Sigil of Corruption, and you have a bit more control, toughness, regen, and burst.

with 1173 healing,it ticks for 176, caps at 192
dang thats not bad healing. i would pick that up in a healing/power bomb build
not to hijack your thread, just wanted to post it in case you were curious, but

this is the three kit build i’ve been messing with.

Nice build, Nakoda.
I’m currently rocking the FT variant of Fairtex’s build that I proposed above. I love Thumper Turret a lot (3 blast finishers in one utility!) but FT offers more control. Enough that I don’t miss the stun breaker too often.
i know. everytime fairtex pops his head out from his workbench it makes me wanna drop everything and take turrets again.
Only healing turrent to remove conditions ? Seems very weak in my opinion.

it’s all my builds have ever used. works fine. stop being a kitten and nerfing yourself just to stack more condi removal.
Pretty much what nakoda said. Same goes for stun breakers, you don’t need/want too many. After playing with out them you realize you don’t need them so much . one is enough for me. My build has plenty of interrupts anyways
I must say, this build is very fine bunker/support control mix for me, so much beautiful disables, so much “interrupted”, so much annoying for enemies in tournaments, number of interrupts can give you time for reinforcements :P in 1v1 it can be nightmare for enemy if he is not wise enough to avoid turrets (hello thieves & warriors!). As nakoda said: we must take turrets again :P
I played a lot of tPvP with this build and I can give it Turret Seal of Approval
Now we must wait for unbugging and making turrets a bit more viable(we all know what we want) and reign of turrets in pvp will be normal thing:)
GJ Fairtex!
I started playing my engie turret + condi build again… And I can’t remember why I stopped, just so much 1v1 and even 1v2 destruction it’s ridiculous, end up getting zerged by the entire enemy team at least once a game, but still, builds freaking great! Haven’t played since Healing Turret was buffed either…
Thanks Dinoslaw, what’s even funnier against thieves and warriors is throw mine, net turret and rocket/thumper turret.
Welcome back to the dark side Durzilla
If not for the turret bugs people (i.e. kittens) would be crying about this build being OP.
now if ANET would be ABLE to FFFFFFFFFF***IXXXX the turrets at least ONCE IN A WHOLE YEAR, I would be happy…
As long as kids want to be fill-in-the-stealth-class, and fill-in-the-gothic-class, the only things that will see buffs and fixes are those types of classes. I’d include roided out, grunting, great sword wielders in this but it doesn’t apply to GW2 warriors. I always feel bad when I see a warrior roll up on me. Even with the unfocused design and slew of bugs of our profession, I just roll them.
You just stand to lose too much money as a game company if the kids get cranky. Let’s face it, they pump more money into these games than most adults do.
To get the topic back on track: Let’s see some more footage, Tex!
Also, has anyone tried (or theorycrafted) a Mortar build just for lols? I feel like there are some good perches in certain maps where you could get a few shots off before someone sneezed on the Mortar and destroyed it.

I’ll get some footage of my Mortar + Turret defense build, throw all the turrets (minus healing) down on point in Nifihel with the CC warrior and lit up the enemy, worked A LOT better than expected.
Maps it works on, Capricorn, Nifihel(all points), Khylo ( clock tower only), Temple (all but not as safe as Nif), have not tried it on spirit or sky hammer.
The trick is for you to be far away from the point (your AoEs should just hit the point, and not by too much) so if they come for you they are not capping at all, if they’re on the point between the turrets and the warriors CC they are TOAST, we normally did this at the mid point or the enemies natural because of how fortifiable it is.
That would be awesome to see, post it! I could see how it would work. I would guess net/rocket/thumper for ultimate CC and just nail them with mortar. That would be so funny to see from the mortar POV lol
@ Grackleflint
I have a Khylo full match using my old school build (mine, net, rocket) I actually bunked mid too, it was great fun haha. It’s a pretty fun one at mid on Khylo. I’ll get that one up sometime tonight. But what a really wanna see if some of your gameplay :P
(edited by Fairtex.7810)
Actually I do Flame, Rocket, Rifle because the warrior brings soooooo much CC by himself, the turrets and mortar give the damage, and also since the Mortar can’t crit, maxing your power out via Soldiers Armor makes it very lethal, I’ll try and get my friend in his warrior build tonight so I can get some footage (didn’t record anything).
He may be against doing it today due to the patch, but I’m sure I can get it within a few days!!
PS: if I haven’t mentioned it in 3-4 days just PM me and yell at me, because chances are friend said no and I just forgot to bug him about it again.
Haha that’s awesome! Can’t wait to see it. Makes sense with the dps turrets. Have you ever tried cc turrets and 100b or bs thief? Warrior /thief loves it if they can target swap good

I have not, only 100b warrior I know is too elitist to try a game with a turret engi (he’s an idiot) and idk any BS thieves, although could probably get my condi thief friend to try it.
