Fear for Engi
I’m gonna go with no. Engineer’s already have a decent amount of control, and have amazing condition application. So they really don’t need something that falls under both the control and condi categories.
Engi has almost every non proffesion game mech other than fear, torment, and blink (might be missing some). Yes the fear thing would be nuts with perpex runes but it really does fit the flavor of the class same with torment. The could be balanced to fit or just made really weak.
Only thing that wouldn’t fit an engi imo would be blinks and teleports, unless it was a random one on stunned kind of like thieves hard to catch.
how does it fit the engineer? becasue it can apply a kittenton conditions it also needs to have fear? and to make it be really weak to balance it, why have it in the first place? it’s not a good thing to add stuff that is very weak just for the sake of having it, look at turrets >.< .Besides,out of the 3 you mentioned, blink would fit better becasue HELLO TELEPORTING TURRET/PADS!
Fear fits flamethrower perfectly its an intimidating sickening weapon. Torching people when you could just blow them up is all about being scary. Its not about the amount of conditions it about the terror that is inflicted with the weapons an engi uses they are by far the most gruesome in the game.
Not only would it fit the flavor of the kit it would work with the functionality of it also.
A combination of napalm, shrapnel grenades, fire bombs, acid bombs, toxic gasses, land mines, blowtorches and flamethrowers, electrified nets, and steroids would make me feel friendly and nice even if i was a necro.

as nice as that would be, FT already has a good aoe knock back, adding fear to it will only make it more nerfed. and FT doesn’t need more utility, it needs more dmg
:/ i would rather see it as a pure control and utility kit. It could hang out with the ever loved toolkit. Engi has lots of other ways of dishing out dps no need to have multiple top dps kits for pve you dont see warriors speed running dungeons with mace/shield often.
I think a 1.5-2s fear on using Elixir X would be appropriate. Who’s not going to run when you suddenly turn into a tornado?

Condition Engi is already really strong. I don’t think we need a redesign to add fear to the mix. As for control, the flavor of engi is that of knockbacks and immobs, not fear. We make tings ‘splode and cover ’em in nets. That’s how we operate. I can’t think of a gadget that would thematically invoke fear.
What we need are for our existing gadgets, gizmos, and doodads to be fixed, tweaked, adjusted, and primed. Kit Refinement needs to work again. Flamethrower needs to be made for effective as an offensive weapon. And turrets need to be made to function as they were initially conceptualized.

Slick Shoes and Rocket Turret overcharge have knockdown.
Engineers don’t have that much stability, but on the other hand they have blocks, invul, blinds and a ton of control effects, so that makes it a nice trade (outside of frontline zerging).

Torment and Fear really don’t fit Engy at all.
