Hi I am a level 56 engineer who is relatively new to this game.

I ran bombs the whole time and got bored with them so I thought I would try and engineer build out.

I put 20 traits into firearms and got Juggernaut of course. The other one that I have trouble deciding for my adept trait is whether or not to take Fireforged Trigger or Precise sight for solo play leveling.

Does Fireforged trigger mean by 1 skill burn 20% faster or does it only affect the cooldown of my 2-5 skills? Would precise sights cause more damage in the long run?

Fireforged only reduced the cd of your 2-5 skills on eg and ft. Precise sight will only do more dps in the long run if you have high crit chance. It’s just a matter of preference between those 2 traits imo

Specifically for leveling you should probably try both to see which one fits you better, but Fireforged Trigger is definitely superior pre-80. You can spam Flame Blast for safe(r…) damage and use the other abilities more often to get used to them, meanwhile your crit chance will usually be subpar and vulnerability isn’t that good for solo play to begin with.

Precise Sights also is much less useful on the Elixir Gun, so if you’re using that the CDR will help you spam Acid Bomb and CC too.

Think of it this way, if you had 100% crit chance you would still only get 5 stacks of vuln from the full channel. But honestly, ft auto is terrible for damage and I do mean terrible. The amount of time you would spend using the aa to get vuln would still end up in you taking longer to kill than using other skills without the vuln. The only time the ft aa is good to use is if you are trying to loot tag in a zerg, or if for some reason you want to run a ft condi build (wouldn’t recommend this). So fireforged trigger is by far the better choice if you building around power. If you want to vuln stack just wait til 60 and use the gk.
