Flame Turret
Wasn’t aware of it till you posted it, but indeed: it does nothing without an enemy.
Turret AI needs some serious improvements, this is getting silly.
A smoke field on demand for stealth is part of the usefullness. It should not require a targetable enemy.
Seeing as the overcharge effect happens when the turret does its next attack, yes, it needs a target to attack for the overcharge to happen.
Maybe one day the overcharges will trigger as soon as you activate them removing the need to wait around for the thumper’s knockback, flame’s smoke, or that 3 second wait to get conditions cleared off you.
Im not sure if this is a bug or not so I wanted to post.
When you activate the overcharge on flame turret with no enemies within range, it does not deploy a smoke field.
Is this intended?

I’ve noticed the Healing Turret doing its cleanse in a rather more timely fashion of late.
Other than that…yeah, that’s how the Flame Turret Overcharge has always worked. Bit of a pain in the kitten when you’re trying to see how high you can stack Stealth.
Last time i checked the smoke field will last way longer if the enemy it is trying to reach stands outside of the aoe. Oh what am i even talking about, if it can be used for good it will get fixed.
