Ghost Yak
Hey there all. I havnt posted in the forums like this before in a long time so SUP im shade. I spend most of my time in PvP although I WvW regularly as well as doing PvE content on occasion.
Well like most of you Ive seen the upcoming changes to the flamethrower. So I wanted to give you an idea to try. I wont try to make it sound like its a perfect build or anything but ive had an rather surprising amount of success in both 1v1s and grp pvp with this. Im unfamiliar with the build editors Layout so ill just type it out here and leave it to you all to experiment with it if you choose.
0-4-6-4-0 first 4 grab flamethrower traits. In the six grab auto tool and rifled turret barrels. The other is up to you. With the final 4 in the vit tree you will probably want Protection Injection and Deadly Mixtures.
I USUALLY run this with Knights amulet or zealots in PvE (zerkers will of course do more damage but I like having that healing power for emergency heals when I miss a dodge).
I have always used Flame Legion Runes myself.
Now for utilities its fairly standard for a turret build however you replace thumper turret with your flamethrower kit. So it should be something like (Healing Turret, Flame Turret, Rocket turret, Flamethrower Kit)
The biggest thing about this build is its onpoint fighting style and its ability to cross easily into open field fighting if necessary. Since its not reliant on the thumper turret for an “Oh kitten” CC button you get a bit more leway on its application. Its damage while not OMGLEETDPS (yet) is still more than substantial enough to kill nearly anything youl meet on the field. I have butchered mesmers and thieves alike. I can fight evenly against any warrior engineer or ranger I have come across so far.
I made this build to try and combat a turret builds heavy reliance on stationary combat. With it ive had several succesful chase downs and Im no longer afraid of being ambushed by a thief or mesmer on the way to a point.
Feel free try it or not :P Just wanted to share this seeing as how Flamethrower may be seeing a resurgence
