That is my build for solo pve
I swap skills and traits when needed.
Shrapnel mine and Elixir B can be changed for bomb kit and thumper turret when i need group might stack or stealth (mostly for instances)
Traits i also change. Presise sights for moddified ammo, when on group content.
Infused presision i swap out with fireforged trigger on low mobility fights and invigorating speed with protection injection in fights where i need that.
Rifle i use mainly for utility, for it’s AoE #3 and net. Or if i need a quick finisher #5 or more distance #4.
I really would like to see a change ot the FT. I allways wanted to be a slow moving destruction machine. Like the cof FT guys. So why not change it like that? While equipped the FT or maybe only while using FT 1 you move slower. 1 could be channeled longer, pressing 1 again chancels. Damage at least doubled.
And that from a bomb/grenades lover lul I luv engis <3

i’d like to see flamethrower auto hit 5 times instead of 10 over a 2 second duration instead of 2.25 for 1.5x our current damage. other than that the kit is great.
edit: oh i’d also like to see it hit 5 targets instead of 3.

compared to bombs / grenades
- less dmg
- less cc
- less conditions
- less vulnerability
- less targets
in a nutshell … the FT just looks kitten great and has a good boom + fire field.

My solo pve build, FL is a must have. Multiple targets without having to wait for my bomb timers is a win.
Despite its damage output I love FT in open world PvE zergs. Easier to deal with groups and when things die so quickly it helps you tag stuff. I’ve honestly enjoyed the LA invasion mostly because I’ve thrown on my FT and burnanator in classic Trogdor fashion…
If we could only get even a 10% FT autoattack increase I’d be playing this game a lot more.

FT is my favorite kit!! Just wish I could use it more like I can bomb/grenades. It’s too much fun to not use.

One of the greatest feelings classwise in GW2 is for me when you have FT fire field down, big ol’ bomb goes off just after you detonated your turret, all the while you are mopping up with the flamethrower auto and napalm. Also the knockback has awesome feel and it’s cool to reflect missiles with it too. :P
But yes… I just wish it was a better effective contender, feelwise it is easily the most enjoyable kit for me.

Agreed. Except for the less CC part. That’s about all the FT has going for it.

I doubt anyone chooses ft because of it’s superior cc. it’s probably because of it’s cc in addition to the tag time and distance that it has over bombs without needing to be as carple tunnel inducing as nades. I keep both bombs and ft on my pve solo build. Bombs doesn’t offer the instant tag and range of the flame thrower. While grenades is still slow to tag mobs.
I used Flamethrower when I led WvW NA T1 map blobs’ melee trains.
I’ll still do it from time to time in EotM. I once filled my 60+slot bag just in one fight.
Guild Wars 2 needs a Public Beta Environment
If you play it well the dmg is not too bad i think. In large groups place napalm outside your cone of fire and spam the fireball does just fine damage.
I wouldn’t complain about a damage boost though. More dmg is allways welcome

If I am not mistaken it used to be that way, but in PvP especially the lower speed was a big hindrance.

One thing I do like about ft is its low 6sec cd decently good damage. (And five second if traited, don’t fool yourself).

I love the Flamethrower. I’ve been desperately trying to put a build together to make it work. The one I have currently down in my signature isn’t too bad, it’s been pretty fun to play. I did run with an HgH FT build for awhile, but I found I can push out more damage and survival by traiting and picking up the Toolkit, which happens to be my other favorite kit. :-)
I really love the FT! I use it one of the main builds I use.
Lots of cone and AOE major damage goodness with the 2 skill . I would like to see a bit more love for the FT in terms of some balance, but for the most part, it rolls just fine!
