Because of retaliation, damage reduction and projectile hate flamethrower no longer feels rewarding in wvw. Using it is a high risk with a low reward.
Also i always though it should burn more, after all it’s a flame thrower.

Suggestions:

Flame Jet
- Increase range to 600 (or 900)
- AoE burning every third hit (1 second)

Flame Blast
- Unblockable

Air Blast
- Extend burning duration (25 stack cap).

Napalm
- Use revenant mace 2 shape.

Smoke Vent
- No changes.

New trait: Irony

Irony
- Incoming retaliation no longer deals damage, instead it heals.

Flame jet: range increase nope this can make it strong but burning on every 3 tick is good idea!
Flame blast: make unblockable only detonate. This is strong skill.
Air blast: ok
Napalm: this can be really great and more realistic. Just only thinking about it

Irony: Thats wow. Yes bring us this. This can be really cool

Flame Jet range would be op tbh. 600 range is enough. Burn on every 3rd hit is a great idea tough, or maybe just 0.5s burn on EACH hit?

Flame Blast is alread a good skill. I think that’d be an overkill, or just a “not required buff”. It deals great damage, is a blast, if you want to buff it, rather reduce the cast time.

Air Blast uhhh – I don’t understand what you mean by this. So it will apply up to 25 stacks of burning?? o.รด

Napalm to rev mace 2 shape … idk what this looks like :<

Irony trait sure sounds interesting but I’d never take it all alone – maybe fuse it with something, or simply make Flame Jet itself ignoring reta? :o

All in all, rather good suggestions, I like!

Irony would be ridiculous op with hgh. EG mortar builds would run rampant as engineers are able to apply almost constant retaliation/light aura while being healed by incoming dmg from these boons. I only play engi, and will be the first to say that seeing walls of flame thrower wielding, partially launching engineers smash into eachother sounds too legit to quit. A few times. Then it’s old news, except nothing else would be viable against such a beast except the already ridiculous 12 stacks of torment shatter mes.

yea heal is a bit overkill, ignore reta could be viable tough.

I like most of these changes expect the irony one would be a bit op maybe have it be reduced damage from retal because with the way it works you’d be healed way to much

Anet should try this. Even if this trait get some buffs and debuffs(make it retal immune and heal gain, but reduce movement by 50%) Or like somebody write-only immune retal or dmg reduce.

No to irony and simply rework retaliation to proc every 0.5s

Smoke Vent make it work like Medi Gyro’s tool belt skill and be a blinding field for 5 , 1 second pulses

Irony : way too OP, I understand why you propose that though. A delay between retaliation procs could be enough to stop auto attacking.

Flame jet range increase would be a bit too much, but a burn of 2 secs after kittens (and remove the last hit burn obviously) could be nice. Especially since rescaled burn is not that strong anymore with a single short stack.
I’d like to have flame blast ground targeted for a better control, unblockable detonate, why not.
For air blast, I’d prefer an increase in reflection time (like 2s seconds after initial blast, with some tell) rather than burning.
Napalm as rev mace is a nice idea, could also be a field at caster. Or something added to the field itself ?
Smoke vent radius could be slightly increased…

Flamethrower is fine imo. The only ‘buff’ it needs is to give retaliation the same treatment as stab got in WvW.
