I play on a newly zergified T1 server and was trying to think of ways to reinvigorate my love of WvW.

I wanted to make my engineer a zerg surfer (I really don’t care as much for this type of play, but it’s impossible sometimes to find smaller fights in T1 during my play time) that could mix it up in the front lines with the guardians and warriors and didn’t have to hang back and just throw grenades.

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/engineer/?2.1|a.1b.h1k.e.1b.h16|0.0.0.0.0.0|1h.9b.1h.a2.1h.a2.1h.a2.1h.a2.1h.a2|1b.62.2w.0.1b.62.1b.0.1b.62.8b.62|a3.5.f2.k45.k68|30.8|0.2e.2j.2x.0|e

So, I messed around with a build calculator and tried to create a build that I think would be fun and effective in the following criteria:

1. Make use of the newly buffed Tool Kit to lay some confusion/CC/dmg along with spreading condition dmg with Bomb Kit. With fury from groupmates, I’d have about 50% crit chance to work with the on crit bleed from traits/Sigil.
2. Have enough tough/vitality mixture to survive jousting in and out of the fray, supported by 25% hp defensive traits like Elixer S, heal resets, regen, and tool belt reset. As far as I know, Auto Med Response and Self Reg Defenses don’t share the 90s cooldown, but I could be incorrect, as I’ve never tried to mix these in practice. Further defense comes from the Tool Kit shield and offhand Shield equips.

From more experienced players, does this sound like a viable WvW build? If not, what could be changed?

I would say if your running PVT you need to be using direct damage, not condition damage. Tbh the Engineer really does suffer as a frontliner because your hard hitting attacks are delayed. The Flamethrower does alright as well, but if you run into a zerg with great condi-mesmers your going to kill yourself. Tbh the Engineer is the most effective ikittenerg with Grenades. Bomb kit is nice, but just not compared to the other classes. Engineer is most effective 1vs1 or 1vs2 (or if your mask 2vs.kitten load).

Yeah, if you’re going to try and be a frontline zerg player, I’d go with a might stacking Juggernaut FT build. Especially right now where you’ll be spamming 1 a lot due to skill lag.

Flamethrower is our best weapon for zerging (on PTV gear), kitten culling.
