I do. Does it not work on NPCs at a distance?
Tigirius, the Function Gyro is well known for being very useful when your teammates or foes are DOWNED, to rez or stomp them at a medium distance (900). You need to first target them, then press “f”. You can even double rez (Activate first your Gyro from a distance, then step up and rez too).
However, the Function Gyro DOESN’T work in DEFEATED characters.
This renders it almost useless outside Player versus Player situation, because NPCs almost never get downed. So it is a ten ton crap mechanic in PvE.
TLDR: good in PvP, useless in PvE. If your foe or mate have their heads on the ground, the Gyro doesn’t affect them.

Function Gyro is difficult to learn. It is a struggle for everyone. Best way to learn it quick is to keep an eye on your party-window healthbars, and if you spot a red one click on it and press F a few times. If the guy is in sight-range, you may notice an orange gyro pop up next to him, performing resurrection.
If you are teamed up with mesmers, elementalists and thieves, who tend to move their downed body across the field, it is very annyoing. The FG does follow a teleporting corpse, but it moves and not teleports. So there is a high chance it gets destroyed on its way to the target. But on the other hand, we have the same issue with the Toss Elexir R.
It is quite useful for teamplay though. You can e. g. send the gyro to a player who got downed inside a DOT field and maintain his health until the field runs out. You can combine the FG with the Toss Elexir R and mind your own business while your ally gets resurrected. If you are engaged in a duel, you can send the gyro to buy you extra time. And once you have mastered the issue with range and cooldown, you also can resurrect dead players with it (but that requires some experience & training). It is also possible to resurrect a downed player during the AoE phase of Main Trin (fractal) with the FG and your personal resurrection. But you need to be extremely fast.
Compared to the other class/elite mechanics, it does not increase our dps in any form, so many consider the FG to be a total waste. I like it, but my opinion on this board has the same value as the FG in dps builds.
I don’t hate the F Gyro because it doesn’t give DPS. I hate it because in the narrow content it is usefull (non PvE, for sure), it is also fully dependent on your teammates screwing up.

It does nothing for NPCs. It’s only useful to revive your fellow players and/or party/squad members.
The only time it becomes useful in PvE is the occasional mob that requires a Finishing Blow.
SOLVED.
Don’t get why people are saying it is useless for PvE. In dungeons and raids and even open world events you can use it to revive teammates. Sure it’s not a big deal, but saying it does absolutely nothing and is completely useless in all PvE is quite the exaggeration.
This thing has saved my squishy zerker friends on several occasions, i just wish it could revive fully downed players since the AI seems to love taking a massive crap on anyone who gets knocked down, so there’s not much time between being downed and being utterly crushed.

Lets rephrase it then. It doesn’t do anything remarkable or needed in the overwhelming majority of PvE content. Thus becoming the less interesting or useful of the elite spec mechanics.
