I know we are all focused on Scrapper and gyros right now, but can we get some traits for gadgets in general. Sure, rapid regeneration as a trait, aids with slick shoes, but can we get some better traits for gadgets and not forget about gadget trait needs?

Yes, like others have said in the past, I’d love to see Gadgeteer as a permanant bonus rather than a 5/stack + activation effect. Most other classes get 20% CD reduction as adept or master traits, the fact that this is Grandmaster and is a conditional CD reduction is laughable.

Yes, the ‘overcharged’ effect is an extra bonus; that could always be given an ICD if it was deemed too powerful. But this competes with two other very strong GrandMasters (Adrenal Implant & Kinetic Battery) – it would make it a compelling trait if given a permanent bonus for both CD and overcharged effects.

Regarding getting some other traits for gadgets – I guess they already get benefits from other (non-gadget specific) traits? Rocket-boots → incendiary, Slick Shoes → Rapid Regen, Personal Battering Ram → Impact Savant, Throw Mine → explosions.

Nothing really earthshattering, but there is a bit of options for trait/skill synergy there.

I think gadgeteer is actually quite under-rated. The main issue I can see is that it is balanced around PvP, where taking kittens between gadget uses is all but guaranteed anyway. In that game mode, it is functionally a permanent 2*5*% CD reduction. The “overcharge” portion is absolutely underwhelming in most cases, though. I actually prefer it to kinetic battery sometimes; unless you can sit and stare at your buff bar, kinetic battery often doesn’t even last long enough to use.

I don’t think that we need more traits for gadgets as much as gadgets just need to be better (except for Slick Shoes).

Rocket Boots with Gadgeteer is really fun, but there’s just very little practical reason to ever go with rocket boots, let alone gadgeteer.

I completely disagree. It is great for being a solid scaling direct damage and burn with rocket kick, a mobility aid, and most of all, a blast finisher. It is also great for getting you out of trouble in a hot spot.

I completely disagree. It is great for being a solid scaling direct damage and burn with rocket kick, a mobility aid, and most of all, a blast finisher. It is also great for getting you out of trouble in a hot spot.

Oh, sure, it sounds nice when you describe it on it’s own, but it just doesn’t fit in any legitimate build. Elixir gun will cover the blast finisher and mobility while also giving you a stunbreak, poison cleave, condition removal, and amazing synergy with HGH.

Pretty much any time you’d want to take rocket boots, you’d be better off taking Elixir Gun instead.

Why are those 2 mutually exclusive?

I will often run P/S with HT/EG/BK/RB/Motar for a 7 blast finisher build and 7 different fields available to blast.

Or hammer, HT / EG / Bulwark gyro / RB / Mortar.

You may not like those builds, but your confusing your subjective opinion with that of actual objective fact if you blindly declare them as not being a “legitimate build”.

I have been commanding in WvW for years on the first build, well with supply crate, until mortar came around, that is.

Both the RB skill and tool belt skill are AoEs as well.

On the subject of WvW and rocket boots, it’s also good for removing immobilize and soft CC. Plus plain getting away as Acid Bomb can easily put you in combat if you weren’t already.

But context matters of course. Obviously these things are diminished in PvP and PvE
