Gadgets are so much fun.
Is it just me, or is there a short delay between landing the rocket boots and continuing forward?
The forward leap on the rocket boots really does kick some tail! This plus the jump-shot change make us one of the BEST roaming professions around. We have perma-swiftness/vigor with kit swaps, and 2 forward leaps on a short cooldown. LOVE IT!!!
ya, I have been using battering ram underwater and mines on land and really enjoying them. The mine knock back I can see be useful when needed. Mixed with kits for perma-swiftness/vigor is the new way to play for me.
Gadgets really are fun now, anet said they wanted to make gadgets better and they have. Ive been having so much fun with gadgets I almost forgot about the sky pirates events.
I like the EG-FT combo a lot, and EG is not leaving my bar now that it got an added stunbreaker.
So that leaves only room for one gadget.
But to be honest: I like them so much I’m thinking of dropping my Flamethrower.
Not sure yet, FT is a lot of utility too. Not to mention a good group weapon.
EG is staying, and most likely Rocket Boots as well.
So the choice is: mine, slick shoes perhaps, or the FT after all.
For when you’re really in a hurry, Super Speed + Rocket Boots gets you where you need to be.

Slickshoes + rocket boots has become my new favorite combo. You essentially turn yourself into a human bowling ball and just deck everyone in your path. So much fun ^^
Not to mention the escape possbilities in WvW between a 15s cooldown leap and super speed.
Ram toolbelt with is low cooldown is perfect for static discharge builds, and the regular Ram can be used to stunlock people with overcharged shot and slick shoes.

Not on my charr I fly across do a flip and I’m running on all fours instantly.
<goes and reads the notes again to see if he missed something about mines....> hmmmrocket boots are way to much fun. Slick shoes are awesome. Been running around with land mine and battering ram here and there as well. Glad to see the Eg stun breaker as well. Great patch i think.
I hope those of you abusing the new Rocket Boots to spawn camp in the EB jump puzzle enjoyed it. It better have been worth getting it nerfed for the rest of us who don’t want to be kittens.
This is why we can’t have nice things.

I still wish turrets could measure up to our other skills in usefullness

I’ve seen a lot of people mention this. I must be missing something, what is Super Speed?
what is Super Speed?
It’s the toolbelt skill of Slick Shoes.
Ahh thanks, that clears things up. I will have to try this combo out.
EG/rocket boots/FT here. FT is my go-to weapon, good utility there too. Swap into pistol for #2 (and might stacks) every so often. I was jumping my way out of everything last night.

FYI – The Rocket boot benefit from swiftness, which, if you aren’t in combat, is all you are getting from super speed. If that is how you are using them, just get your swiftness from kit swapping and save the extra utility slot.
On the other hand, super speed > slick shoes > rocket boots is a serious zerg busting combo. There is a bit of distance between the “patches” of oil, but it will knock down QUITE a few people.

Thats what i also thought at begining but after testing it a bit i found out that swiftness give you only around 150 aditional range while super speed gives around 250.
Also i dont thing it will be nefred as every form of jump (normal jump or skill) benefit from speed boost even that jump platforms in Aether dungeon, you can almost reach the top of the jp from the middle platform whit super speed.

Wow. I tested this in LA last night, and it seemed like it was the same as swiftness… I am not sure I can justify slick shoes AND rocket boots, but thx for the clarification.

Well the best way to test it is to jump from higher ground to lower and check the position after roll, but still between swiftness and super speed its only around 100 difrence in range, thou if you use super speed whit out haveing swiftness on you beforehand you will feel that it adds alot.
p.s. I use super speed and rocket boots combo mainly in jp as u can cut big corners.
Ther was many times when i just jumped over 15% of jp, and even run away from enemy players in enternal battleground jp leaving them shocked as how fast i got in to completly difrent futher part of jp(after all its around 1200 distance covered in 1 second ignoring terrain).

Tip: Use the ground target of Jump Shot to measure the radius of distances.
No mention of the amazing PBR? Realz? Short CD, good damage and cripple toolbelt, and a short CD blowout? I prefer it over slick shoes tbh.
So are gadgets officially “fixed”? A few pathes ago people were asking why they even exist, asking them to work like Signets. Now Gadgets are good?

They buffed some of them. The change to make rocket boots not CC the crap out of you is nice. Though I wish it was targetted like Jump Shot. (It actually might be? I haven’t tested it yet)
