Gearing Engi with an "all stats gear"
I think you should include what it’s for. PvE, WvW, PvP?
PVE and WVW i guess..
I can’t really speak for WvW, but for PvE most will tell you to go Berserker stats on everything.
If you’re still learning the engineer it might be best to use berserker trinkets and knights everything else, then gradually move to full berserker when you’re comfortable with using active defences such as blinds and dodges at the right time.
Of course, nobody is going to stop you from going celestial, but you may want to look into 2 different armour sets. 1 for PvE and 1 for WvW.
celestial is fine for wvw
id recommend a might stacking build
i anti-recommend divinity runes, many other runes have interesting incomparables… and celestial gear with any of the good runes will be good
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
the problem with berserker gear is that it makes me 2 squishy. One mistake and I am dead.
I am not new Engis, I do have maxed berserker gear and I maxed my damage output( 30\30\0\0\10 Grenadier build ). But still, what is the point in all this if i have to spend more time trying not to die then actually do damage…
I am thinking that perhaps with the celestial gear, I can balance my HP (currently have something like 15k ) and armor while transferring some of my damage to condition damage.
Yeah, celestial HGH nades is so beast in wvw
this is what I’ve come up with so far

That looks pretty decent. However you have little to no actual defense

I actually run something very similar trait-wise, but for utilities I use Bomb Kit and Grenade kit. Not sure, if you have elixirs there by mistake.
Personally, I began with ‘zerker myself, but just as you have mentioned: it’s a bit difficult to stay alive. Lots of the Engineer’s survivability is very trait heavy, which can also be said of their damage. So what happens, is that because a lot our builds rely so heavily on traits is that it makes it difficult to trait for both at once. This is where I find that Celestial gear comes in handy.
Celestial stats let Engineers focus on their trait-heavy builds in lieu spreading yourself too thinly, when it comes to traits. You can run a 30/30/0/0/10 build without fear of not being tanky enough, yet still be confident on your DPS output due to build-defining traits such as Grenadier and Modified Ammunition that dramatically increase DPS. Same goes for defensive specs as well. You can remain assured that each area of damage and survivability is covered and concentrate more on taking full-advantage of trait lines.
Now, I don’t have many numbers to back it up, but I will say with the amount of “hybrid” skills that the Engineers has (I mean Power+Condi) it kind of makes sense to try to make use of them. I like to know that the conditions I’m using aren’t just extra stacks for Modified Ammunition, but are also ticking for extra damage: this holds especially true for when using kits such as Grenade and Bomb kit that both scale wonderfully with power, and still have a wide array of different conditions that actually tick for damage (burn, bleed, poison, confusion).
All-in-all, I just really like all the benefits that come with Celestial gear, which in terms make me feel like a better player and you should too.

this is my celestial guide
i have another video in there as well based around flamethrower.
hgh i think is over rated for celestial, but the best bit of advice i can give you is to look around and find your playstyle. Not the meta
I have 2 armor sets: Berserker and Celestial
I run Zerk gear in PvE
I run Celestial (with Zerk trinkets) in WvW or content I’m unfamiliar with until I learn the mechanics.
They both work fantastically
Celestial armor with Traveler Runes is awesome and versatile.

Interesting, we use pretty much the same stats. I also switched to “Modified Ammunition” after watching your video. Feel silly for not using it up until now :\
PWNcakesAndROFLs.8263 I totally agree with you.
But i hear that they are going to Nerf the Celestial gear from the next patch, i will wait before i decide whether to start crafting it.
The celestial nerf isn’t going to be a nerf as such. They have announced that their attempt to lower zerker damage will affect celestial so they will be increasing stats to compensate.
Possible nerf but all in all could end up as a buff to most builds.
Of course Celestial gear is fine especially on a 30/30/…. build. Get a set of traveler runes on top of it so you can place these last 10 points in something else than tools.
Try not go to HGH. Overrated, will ruin you in performance (compared to Modified Ammunition + grenade synergy) and also in versatility since you’ll barely be able to change your utility skills depending on the situation.
Also, keep in mind that oils/sharpening stones/tuning crystals will have a better effect since you’ll get vitality and toughness, you can compensate the lack of power or precision.

I run a 30/20/0/20/0, full ascended celestial, full traveler, BK/GK/EG build for PvE and WvW and am quite happy with it, FWIW.
I know I could easily do much more damage with 30/30, but I like backpack regenerator, transmute, and vit & boon duration a lot for the survivability aspects.

Excuse my Ignorance, but what do those acronyms mean?
HGH -?
BK-?
GK-?
EG-?
FWIW – ?
HGH – 30 Point Alchemy Talent Wiki
BK – Bomb Kit
GK – Grenade Kit
EG – Elixir Gun
FWIW – For what it’s worth
=)
As for the Celestial nerf…
Anet is changing the way crit damage works (Ferocity) and it’s going to result in a net loss of crit damage on all gear with that stat, including Zerker as well as Celestial. But considering Celestial is going to be hit hardest with the change, Anet has suggested that the other stats may get a boost to compensate for the hit. Here’s hoping. I think they will.
