Glass Rifle Build
[YOHO] – Its a Pirate Life for Me
I run something eerily similar and I’m just wondering why you aren’t running HGH?
I realize self regulating defenses can work great for survival and you aren’t running and boon or might duration runes but I don’t either and easily maintain 10 stacks of might.
I’m also not sure why you’re running modified ammunition when your build has almost no condition application?
Things that go BOOM
I’m not running HGH because I find that HGH makes you a bit too reliant on cycling your elixirs, causing you to not have them up when you need them. I’m running Modified Ammo because when I get to the end of my burst rotation, I should have 3 to 4 unique conditions on them, which is an extra 6 to 8% damage boost, as well as causing me to have some damage build up the long a fight goes on, and because most of the other traits in Firearms are not that great.

I’m with StillShade on this one. Having HGH doesn’t mean you have to hit off every elixir on CD. Sure you can pre-cast B and Toss H for 4 stacks (and maybe toss B for a quick overcharged shot). After that though, you can just build up might throughout the fight as you need your other elixirs.
Should more than make up for the lost damage from dropping modified ammo, which really buys you very little as the conditions you’re applying have low durations and you have no condi duration to bolster at all. What you do with those 10 trait points is up to you. Personally I would drop the 10 in tools as well and go 20 in inventions for power shoes and automated medical response (which gives you even more might if you do go HGH), but you could go 10 more in tools for more crit damage and power wrench or explosives for more power and exploit weakness/empowering adrenaline.
The other issue I have with the build is that while I like the concept of assassins over berserkers, with your implementation, you’re ending up with too much crit chance. With maxed out perception and fury, you’re landing at 107 crit chance, and 117 on targets below 50%. Don’t get me wrong, if you do the math (or use the chart here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Critical_hit#Average_damage_increase), high crit chance gives you a huge bang for your buck, but you also don’t want to be wasting any of your attribute points.
With elixir b, hidden flask, and the boon duration from alchemy, you’re pretty much going to be maintaining fury throughout a fight, which means between perception, fury, and target the weak, you should probably be targeting ~60-70% crit damage from precision. Reinvesting some of those firearms points into some other line would help. Beyond that, maybe consider converting some of that assassin’s back to berserker.

The build already has perma-swiftness, so Power Shoes is kind of pointless, and I’d rather not lose the extra damage to bleeding foes. Also, in my opinion, there aren’t really any other trait lines I feel are worth investing more into. If I were to put points into Explosives (a trait line that I feel is way to specialized for its own good), I would grab Accelerant Packed Turrets, just to turn Supply Crate into a nuke.

I like it. It’s different, but looks effective. I respect builds that aren’t the same FOTM meta crap over and over. Not to diss anyone that has made those, but I enjoy this type of creativity.
FWIW I also agree re: HGH. I would drop Self-Regulating Defenses and put in HGH. I don’t see why you wouldn’t pop Elixir B everytime it’s up (in combat of course) so there’s no change there and you’re just getting free might.
You have neither of the 15 point reset skills @ 25% health traits, so losing Self-Regulating Defenses I don’t think would hurt as much as it could (where normally one could spam the heal button coming out of that Elixir S). Plus, you use Elixir S in your build anyways.
I’m sure you have good experience with the build, but you did post it asking for thoughts and those are mine

I do appreciate your thoughts, and in my experience, the auto pop on Self-Regulating has saved me more times than I would like to count.
Also, I’m glad that you like that it’s not FOTM condi build. I personally try to avoid the FOTM builds, mostly because I don’t find them fun to play.

You probably deal enough damage in this build and you’re at the point where you want some survive ability, so I can understand that. In PvP as a general rule you really never want to go full damage, you have to sacrifice something to be able to stay alive. With that in mind I can see how HGH may not be the best fit for this build. You also don’t have the best combination of elixirs or gear in order to maximize effectiveness of HGH.

The power shoes was intended as a substitute for the loss of speedy kits, however if you feel you don’t need it because of your other swiftness from elixir b’s, you could keep those 5 points in firearms for target the maimed and still grab AMR for more survivability and to combo with either HGH or SRD.
Also, you still do have too much crit chance…
The issue with AMR is that, since I have Fast-Acting Elixirs, it doesn’t really combo with Self-Regulating that well, because of the semi-recent change.
I may look into dropping a bit of crit chance, but Zerker gear really won’t do too much more for me, considering I’m still getting more Power than Precision from my gear.

Just a heads up, speedy kits isn’t needed if you’re running elixir B.
Now I know that sounds crazy but hear me out; pop elixir B and get 16 seconds of swiftness, quick switch elixir H to medkit, us 5 and get 13 seconds of swiftness, then switch back into elixir H and pop it.
This is great for running from place to place because when elixir H is back up you know you can use the 5 on medkit again and repeat the process.
Things that go BOOM
I recently came up with this build for use in WvW. I feel that it does pretty well, considering I’m able to survive quite a long time even though I’m glass, but I wanted to get your opinions, so any comments and criticisms would be welcome.
The build is mainly focused around the Rifle, with the Tool Kit being used as neccesary, be it to pull someone, block, or smack someone with a Pry Bar. Speedy Kits and Elixir B give me more than enough swiftness, and the retal and fury from B are nice as well. Elixir S gives me survivability, as well as safe spikes on downed players. The Supply Crate is the Supply Crate.
I went with Assassin’s instead of Berserker’s because I feel that the Rifle depends on consistently critting, since it doesn’t have the fastest attack speed, and the reason I don’t have anything in Explosives is because I feel that it’s a dead trait line if you aren’t using Bombs or Grenades. I didn’t go for Static Discharge because the only Tool Belt skill I have that would work with it is Throw Wrench.
If you want to try the build out yourself but don’t want to go through the trouble of getting Ascended gear (I don’t blame you), Exotics should work just fine.
rune of the centaur x6 give swift on heal skill to take of 10 points in tool to put 10 points in invention to run cloaking device (invention VI)
with elixir S u dont need alchemy IV and u can run HgH to gain might
take off tool kit to run another stun brack (EG or utility goggles) or RB for escape
well i runned this

Elixir B only gives 13s of Swiftness with my current build, and I like having Elixir S for both the tool belt skill and the guaranteed spikes. Also, I like having my heal skill available when I need it.
I may think about swapping out the Oil for Sharpening Stones, that may make it so that I don’t have the 107% crit chance with fury.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I will definitely look into them, although I’m still not sure about HGH.
