The Grenade Kit works very differently over and under water. On the ground, all skills are “aimed” skills – we get an area of effect marker we can place where we want the grenades to drop. Underwater, in other hand, there is no “aimed” skill – using a grenade throws it at your target, hitting it and any nearby enemy.
What of those two do you people like the most? Do you think the Grenade Kit should be changed to work underwater like it works on the groud? That it should be changed to work on the ground as it does underwater? Or is it fine as it currently is?
For general PvE I find the grenade kit to be too much of a chore on land, but it’s fun underwater.
I think it is fine as it currently is. Given the 3D nature of the underwater combat, I’m pretty sure it is impractical for them to program ‘ground’ targeting underwater. That, and grenade kits are incredibly powerful underwater as it is.
The reason grenades are ground targeting on land is so that you can throw them where the monster is ‘going’ to go. It would be hard to get all grenades to land at 1500 range when the monster is running towards you while the nades are in the air.
Personally i find them much more convenient to use under water.
Underwater. Set it to auto-cast, its really powerful.

I think the grenade kit needs to lock on targets when on land when its set to auto-cast. It is the most labor intensive weapon in the game on land.
P.s. Anyone have any idea what the ctrl+click on the grenade 1 skill does currently with the “lock” maybe its supposed to lock onto the target?

Using them underwater with autoattack. Over water not much fun because you want to move and not always use the finger you have at your movement key to constantly press 1 – or is there an auto attack for this? I think because it is ground target you always have to press 1 and without cooldown since it is skill one I would have to press 1 all the time not being able to use the a kay to move left. And I don’t want to remap keys(I don’t think it is saving this only for one class and one setup would always have to switch then when I want to play other classes).
Edit: And I have to say: With rifle and pistol for land combat we have 2 nice weapons even if a lot of people seem to complain(whining about rifle because you need to be close to do dmage). But that underwater weapon that gun or whatever it is called… I don’t know. Pretty useless. You want to get away from the enemy but one skill pulling the enemy a bit to you – yes you move backwards but the enemy is still being moved more to your direction. Mines and other stuff… useless. And too slow even the skill 1.
Grenades are fast. Lots more damage. I have problems against even 2 enemies with the default underwater weapon. Lol.

Better underwater, but only cause they become easy to use with the same damage they have on land.
Underwater grenades are crazily powerful. I can’t imagine how they’d make a targeting system work coherently, but I feel like they’re going to get nerfed underwater for just how much damage they do.
On land it’s totally dependent on your skill at throwing them while moving and doing other stuff. If you’re really good at that they can be devastating. If not they’re very underwhelming.
I think they’re gonna be very hard to balance since Anet seems to be letting the skill balance out the big damage output they have once you fully trait them.
Underwater, no questions. Not only does it automatically toss them for you, the underwater throw animation is significantly shorter than the one on land.
Ive noticed that underwater, bomb kit is actually better. Spamming bombs, is MUCH faster than bombs above ground.
Of course the range of grenades counts, but the sheer bomb spawning speed is something to be marveled at.
