Although, the real question should be: Do we really need another thread about this topic?
Because then it will become perfectly predictable and either miss 8000% of the time, or get sped up and nerfed.
When you say “miss”, I assume you mean in PvP where you have to hit moving targets.
This is more of a PvE issue, where you sit there pressing 2 buttons repeatedly and add nothing to the game.
In PvP, I see very few (if at all) people using the grenade kit. I think people use it for the tool skill and not the actual kit. Also, there are plenty of ways for engineers to stop/slow targets down for grenades to hit. No speed up necessary.
Even in PvE you need to target as monsters move around. I love grenade in PvP because of how it sends tightly grouped packs scattering when they realize they’re getting bombarded.

Yes we do need another thread about this. Hopefully they’ll realize that its a feature that many people want. I would really like it to be added, so I stop wearing out my 1 key. Also, we need a it since they are throw so slow, leading doesn’t necessarily help.

Guys, we can’t have auto-target because then it’d get all kinds of nerfed. If you don’t need to ground-target then your mobility goes way up. Grenade damage is too good for this to be balanced without a mobility sacrifice.
Here’s a less OP proposal:
Rather than mashing the 1 key constantly, let us HOLD IT DOWN. Then just have this repeatedly ’nade wherever the mouse is pointed.
I don’t think that’s the case.
If grenades were too powerful thus it needs to be manually targeted, resulting in reduced mobility, then why not make the casting stationary?
Reduced mobility is just a by-product of manual targeting, not the reason.
However, I do agree that grenade 1 is more powerfully than other auto attacks of the engineer. But how does it stack up against auto attacks from other classes? Also, we must take in to account the other 4 abilities as well. Grenade 1 might be powerful. but the other grenade skills lack burst damage.
Autoattack with grenade 1 will reduce your pvp damage significantly because grenades need to be aimed at where your target will be 1-2 seconds from now, not at your targets current location.
If we add tracking to grenade 1 (like underwater grenades currently have), and combine with autoattack, grenades will be nerfed to hell. Seriously, we can spec vit>toughness>power and still rapidly beast other classes underwater (if we have grenadier).
So it is very much a double edged sword.
People need to realize that we cant compare grenades underwater since they’re all target based (we just need button 1 for autoatack), they have less cast time, maybe half (i dont know why) and they make a trajectory direct to target underwater, so even with target based on land, a player walking straf can easily dodge all.
