Grenadier: Cheats to get "faster" grenades
I haven’t been in game yet to try anything…but what you’re describing doesn’t sound like a “cheat” or “bug”. If the projectile speed is supposed to be increased, the trajectory should be shallower unless you think that engineers and change gravity to make their grenades arc downward faster than normal, lol.
It’s an inconsistent behavior, but I also recognize that we are the only profession with these “floaty” projectiles. I’m not too worried about the suspension of disbelief aspect. My expectation is that the trait by increasing speed doesn’t necessarily mean changing the trajectory. It’s pretty aggressive too. I’d say it cuts the arc by half making them essentially travel in a straight line to their target.
A good example was fighting the Ascalon Capt in FotM and if he was on the hill and I was at the bottom of it. It’s not a big hill or even a piece of terrain you’d normally make not of, but I basically couldn’t hit him with grenades while traited. When this trait was disabled, I did not experience this issue.
EDIT: Screenshots before and after. Same spot, same target.

I’d say mechanics are more important than realism in a game like this. I am sure Engineers can handle a bit of break of reality for this change.
It’d be nice, but I imagine this is run through the physics engine. Which means if you increase speed but still throw it at the same angle it’ll go further. But, like I said it’d be nice, I saw the same issues you’re talking about. I just don’t know if it’s possible with what they have to work with.
