Hey guys, it’s been a while since I posted a new Engineer build so to remedy that, here is my take on the most loathed skills of the Engie; Turrets.

It focuses on damage through a combination of CC from the turrets and the damage options of the rifle. Traits also play a large part in the build with regards to how much damage it can do so make sure you take a look at the video. Also make sure to not skip out on the tips and tricks section at the end which goes into a few cool things that could be done with the build.

Interesting choice of using Turrets with a single target focus. Definitely strong, but its lack of mobility and weakness to pet classes is a concern. Kudos.

One variation I’ve come up with sacrifices some Vitality and condition cleanse for Power Shoes. However, this is made up for by the more controllable “sustained” damage of Static Discharge/Rifle Turret Surprise shot and reduced condition duration in Hoelbrak runes. The 15 points in Inventions also gives you a heal reset at 25% HP. In my view, this is a lot stronger than Elixir S at 25% due to the fact that Elixir S no longer stops conditions from ticking down. In the event of a condition spike, you will die anyway, but with 15 Inventions, hopefully you’ll have the cooldowns to turn the fight.

The buff to Power Shoes to work outside of combat is really what might make this variation stronger. Without permaswiftness, it’s a lot harder to get to a fight. In addition, this cannot be corrupted to Cripple.

It’s really hard to pass up Protection Injection for this as 33% DPS reduction is much stronger than the mere 20% of Stabilised Armour, however, the points have to come from somewhere. I haven’t had the time to test it myself. In an ideal world one could take both and laugh at Hammer Warrior but sadly there simply aren’t enough points.

On the other hand, this variation should in theory be able to spike much higher. Surprise Shot can easily be used as poke damage especially with Static Discharge backing it up.

Surprise shot and Rifle Turret is on such a short cooldown that you could easily keep it in reserve for the fight until you finish your Rifle Burst + Jump Shot combo, Drop it, then Detonate + Surprise Shot immediately for double Static Discharge. The Detonation Static Discharge should occur when you are inside the opponent’s model so it doesn’t fly into the ground.

The Accelerant Packed Turret damage + Double Static Discharge + Surprise Shot + Vulnerability stacks should be an easy extra 4-5k before crits, maybe even more with crits. Should be more than enough to deep six someone given all the bonus percentage damage from Traits and 11 Vulnerability stacks.

Edit: Just did some calculations and with Modified ammunition (2% x Bleed+Cripple+Immobilise+Vulnerability = 8%) , Rifle Mod (10%) , 11 Vulnerability Stacks (11%) and Target the Maimed (5) – you are dealing 44% (!!!) * extra damage by the time your Rifle burst has ended and you hit everything (Blunderbuss, both hits of Jump Shot). If you miss 1 hit of Jump shot you “merely” deal *41% extra damage.

With base damage values only (I’m using the GW2skills damage values) of 888 for Surprise shot, 1775 for Turret detonation and 2 Static discharge hits at damage 309, you are hitting for base damage of 3279, which is multiplied out to 4721 damage base before crits and Crit damage.

I think that…should be enough damage. Yeah.

Tested it out. Still prefer rocket turret but power shoes, auto-medical response and static discharge are always fun to use.

Your calculation with the damaging boosts is also off by 10%. It’s a 34% boost not a 44% boost.
The reason why I prefer Rocket turret is because of the high sustained damage when it’s left alive and the 240radius auto attack can help clear minions if I dont clear them the first time around with my AoE skills.

I’ve tried something similar to this before though, only that time I went 30 into inventions and got Rifled barrels which was pretty good but survivability was still a bit shot (probably due to lack of enough condi cleanse overtime).

Another thing I failed to mention is that static discharge was also part of the build originally. But I felt damage in the way of conditions is a bit more consistent.
