The gyros need to be locked to the player character, and/or copy the boons from the player to the gyro when they are summoned. Gyros cannot follow you on uneven terrain and cannot keep up with you without swiftness. The healing gyro will obviously need to have the healing balanced if the gyros are allowed to lock to the player. Too many times I end up having to chase the stealth gyro to cover myself in WvW and SPvP which obviously doesn’t end well. Utilities need to be able to function, within reason, in all game modes.

I completely agree with you on the gyro mobility. I use gyros alot myself anymore while rolling scrapper. I’m just PvE’er, I mean just one step a log or rock don’t matter bloop gyro stuck. They are flying, I don’t get it lol. I mean why give us drones that can’t follow you when you climb, jump and glide? It makes no sense what so ever to me. I think they should at the very least get a away to warp to you, once you are out of range say 500 or more. Don’t necro minions and ranger pets warp after a certain distance?(can’t remember why I’m asking) Gyros should naturally have that, just logical for this game and in comparison to other pet able classes.

As for speed they really do need least natural 25% boost to base speed, that way it would be like constant swiftness. I mean they not gonna fly away without you it would get stuck anyways haha.

Aye, it was sad watching Scrapper development from the start. I and others said that if these function like necromancer minions they will have limited uses due to pathing and survival. Re-raised those concerns after release for play test and still nothing. Absolutely unacceptable for class design to over look these issues.

I just hope that the second engi elite spec won’t be developed last like Scrapper and will get actually a different mechanics and good viable skills.

With Scrapper we basically got a new weapon, not an elite spec in comparison to other professions. And I still wonder who thought that another AI skills were a good idea…

It would be awesome if the stupid AI had been removed and we could just send gyros wherever we want, like Ventari’s Tablet. That would make them MUCH more reliable. Controls: summon a gyro on target location, instead of self-destruct we have “Move” option, which we can charge upon holding the key, after 2 seconds of charging gyro explodes.

That moment, when you stand next to a ledge, and Sneak Gyro thinks:
“Yea, I always have to end up on your left, and to do so I just need to go all the way around, leaving you out of my range. I’m a good gyro. I’m smart.”

A change could happen, but we the players need to keep pushing it until it happens.
Anet will listen if more people are on board. When it becomes a big enough issue that can no longer be ignored, it will force their hands to take action and make a change.

Best strategy we can do anyone & everyone you know that uses engi/scrapper, needs to post in this suggestion thread and or create another. Offer up suggestions and support of the idea, until it happens.
Do what the complainers do, about certain builds and nerfing of them lol
We all know tactics like that work. We just have to make a huge deal out of it until it changes.

Unfortunately that’s just not the case vs Anet class philosophies and mechanics. They are excessively stubborn when it comes to such things. Before the Gyros were even announced, players had provided countless posts, on Engi forums and other classes with AI based utilities. All detailing the short-falls of Ai utilities, such as the pathing issues, many suggesting alternatives and fixes and all of them completely ignored.

The engi players, both here and on Reddit were pleading with Anet clearly and repeatedly for no more Ai mechanics after the awful rollercoaster that had been Turrets. When the scrapper gyros were hinted at, these pleas became louder and more frequent. When gyros were announced the pleas turned to anger and resentment.

We detailed how it would be a bad idea. How the Gyros couldn’t possibly be balanced across all game modes and would always be overly nerfed or overly buffed, just like turrets. They were. We pointed out that pathing issues would cause them to be glitchy and unreliable, and they were.

Anet went ahead anyway and proved the nay-saying correct. They had 3 years of evidence as to why more Ai utilities would be a bad idea and yet, while other classes were getting access to new types of utilities, Engi got another set of what it already had and of which players had literally begged to not have more.

Gyro mobility is unlikely to be fixed, they won’t put that much effort into the Ranger pets, so why would they put it into Engi utilities? Lets face it, then next engi utility will probably be more Ai with exactly the same pathing issues that gyros have right now.

which means you need to keep posting again, and again, ad infinitum until a change is made.

The funny thing is that minipets can keep up with you better than the gyros can. And by funny i mean sad.
