HGH Grenades in action
As it is HGH, i obviously use a similar build but i notice you have some interesting variations which i’d like to ask about.
1) Is Shrapnel worth it over Short Fuse (or even Enhanced Performance).
With Short Fuse, the benefits from reducing Shrapnel Grenade would mean you get off more Bleeding and reduces the consequences for missing with Freeze/Blind/Poison Grenades. Is the 15% bleed (which equates to around 1 bleed stack every 2-3 hits with 3 grenades) worth it?
2) It seems an awful lot of Condition Damage to give away for extra bit of burning with Lyssa runes. I haven’t really tested it so it is interesting – would love some theorycrafting behind that.
Apart from that, your clearly a very decent Engie

Nay shrapnel is not worth it IMO. In such a squishy build with few damage dealing sources you give up too much for the RNG. And lyssa runes used to be better before they fixed a bug and nerfed incendiary powder. The condi duration added up just right for the (almost) 100% burn uptime.

Just tested using shrapnel and I was getting about 3-5 extra stacks of bleeding with it on, just spamming ’nades. But yeah, I agree that it may not be as useful seeing as this build has multiple sources of bleeding, and its not really the point to keep stacking them. Thanks for the tip about the Lyssa runes too, though I use them for getting at least 50% condi-duration.

this is one of the nice things that engies have.
this build is working as intended.
(and aren’t all GC builds “one trick ponies”, technically? why should we be special?)

You kittens don’t even know what the prefix “meta” means.
Sigh now if only Condi damage and grenades were recovered from their nerfs that were suffered from earlier attempts at balancing PVP it might actually have worked for PVE. sigh.

Sorry that HGH, a build specifically designed for TPvP, ruined your PvE gameplay. It’s hardly as easy as you think when it’s used where it’s meant to be.

Nonsense. There’s no reason ANet couldn’t just buff gadgets, turrets, or broken / useless traits. There are many options for increasing engi viability in all the different game modes without ever touching the HGH build.

Nonsense. There’s no reason ANet couldn’t just buff gadgets, turrets, or broken / useless traits. There are many options for increasing engi viability in all the different game modes without ever touching the HGH build.
I agree they could definitely improve our skills across the board, where we have only 2 abilities when traited that actually helps build might, my thief has five choices and so does my ranger. That’s well rounded.
And they could add to the gadgets the bonuses that signets provide other classes as well as some items necessary to improve the turrets immediately.
Pets across the board however need fixing and they are either too prideful or too busy to do so, pets all need a 90% AOE damage immunity it’s mmo development history, this has happened in every game made, yet for some reason devs just don’t want to what’s right and necessary in this title to ensure pets function properly (and aren’t killed in two shots) I hate to bring it up but what the elephant in the room did with their pets was the right move, fixed pet classes right off the bat.
