Ok this is pure speculation and fantasy about what I (me, moi, ich, MY opinion! Before people start kittenin..) would be epic on the Engineer! I always feel like we need a true melee option, every class has a real melee weapon set.

Closest we come is toolkit, but honestly do you ever use it for the #1 skill? No. We pull with 5, smack with the prybar and block with gear shield, and that’s it.

Don’t get me started about bomb kit. Bomb kit is NOT a melee weapon set.

A hammer would fit in lore wise. Charr engineers build tanks and other huge machinery where a big hammer is fit to clunck some steel!

Give us a real melee option! Give us hammers!

Check the picture, I believe it’s from the game torchlight 2, where the engineer class uses hammer a great deal!

Tool kit #1 is slow… but in a power build it hits like a truck!
The slowness makes it easy to avoid, but you have cripple, a pull… you can get some hits of depending on the fight.

And it loves anything that gives vulnerability. Net turret with sitting duck for example.

Not saying it’s the best, or flawless… but yes: I use it a lot.

I’d like a Chainsaw Kit, but a Rocket Propelled hammer would be sweet.

Hammer or mace, I’m fine with either. Though a hammer would be better IMO.

It would lead to a pretty interesting set up. Whereas engineers currently attack from range then use kits (bomb and toolkit) for melee damage, it would be cool to see an engineer that attacks in melee then uses kits (grenade, elixir) to fight at a distance.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

Hammers are too Guardian-y & Warrior-y (and Ranger bunny hoppers!!), but I can see where you are coming from.

Give me:
Rifles – 1200 range
Pistols – 900 range
>>>>Shotguns – 300-600 range!<<<<

Then give us the the TF2 Heavy Weapons Guy minigun weapon kit, with toolbelt skill: “Natasha” spray & pray laugh animation!

And finally the ultimate Sniper Kit, an elite skill, the one and only elite device kit!

Give me this and I will die happy.

I’ve always liked the idea of engineers wielding maces and hammers since playing TL2. The gear hammer would look great, and I’ve been wanting to use the pvp wrench mace on my engineer forever. It would be nice to have a melee option outside of tool kit, even though devs have said that they want us to mostly be in mid range.
