Heat Mechanic
You are blind.
There are already graphics like Guardian virtues on top of the meter, and your PF avatar changes colors as heat goes up…
I believe there were also audio cues but even if there weren’t this is a non issue.
Jade Quarry
Other than the PF avatar, are you sure that the flames don’t appear after you’ve surpassed the 100/150 threshold?
Additionally, I don’t speak for just myself when I say that some people keep their games on mute.
unless you keep your monitor off as well, our changing color (and – in case you reach the last 20% – chaotic holographic “glitches” around our character) are more than enough of a tell.
I agree with Adamantium, that this is a non-issue.
I’ve actually seen YouTubers comment on it also. on some characters it’s difficult to notice especially when you’re paying attention to other things. and in colourful maps it’s not easy to spot
As an engineer main from the beginning, I am used to spending more time focusing off combat. So for me it’s a non-issue to quickly scan below to see my current heat level. However, as a QOL enhancement I wouldn’t mind having the option to centre a smaller bar above my toon. I also don’t believe monitoring your toon skin colour is a valid argument though because there’s a lot of visual noise during combat that can easily cover that up. Plus, a trait that lets you expand your heat level to 150% means you’re going to be in the red for quite some time before popping. If you want to maximize your heat up-time, you’re going to have to monitor that progress bar.
