M/S + GS w/ healing signet, Doly signet, zerker stance

Maybe change your playstyle. Warriors are kind of predictable and IMHO the ONLY warrior that can damage me hard is a stun warrior as I can’t get away from all his stuns.
Other warriors? Kite, kite, kite→dead. One might not believe this but sitting duck is an awesome trait and utterly destroys melee(at least for me).
Well you could start by posting your build, and some more information about the Engineer you were dueling. What utilities/kits were they using, etc.

I dunno to be honest, if you switch to that m/s + gs build won’t you be lacking stability? if they are using only pistols then yeah it won’t be a problem but a engi running rifle and ft/eg is going to really ruin your day. I guess then you could just switch zerker for endure pain. So many balances and counter balances in this game, really makes it exciting!
Re-roll. Nothing beats an Engi 1v1, not even another Engi.
Engies only have trouble in 1v1 with a few things, one being burst, another being mesmers (although mesmers can be beaten by clever kiting of their illusions / phantasms so they waste time running around obstacles and clustering up), and the primary third being rangers abusing dogs fear/pouncing chains. Warriors are the least of their troubles in sPvP, maybe WvW where a lucky killshot can catch someone off guard I suppose.
Stunlock build is practically a hard engi counter.

No it is not. You have two AoE knockbacks, block/stun, blind+AoE blind+pulsing blind field, AoE chill, AoE immobilize+cripple, perma vigor, either Elixir S or Elixir R (with their thrown versions) and an AoE stun elite. The Warrior has two gap closers, three if he slots Bull’s Charge.

That doesn’t take away the fact that he’s capable of winning the fight if he connects with 1 stun, the warrior also has a 0.25 cast time stunner that inflicts a whopping 3 secs of stun.
You’re just trying to make it sound far worse then it actually is, warriors are extremely dangerous for the stunbreak-less engineers running around these days, just because we’re not completely defenseless doesn’t mean the warriors aren’t a big threat.

IF HE CONNECTS the stun (which lasts 4 seconds with Sigil of Paralyzation, I believe), thats the important part. And that is only if he stuns you when you are not standing in your Smoke Bomb, or next to Big Ol’ Bomb.
Also Warrior will usually not go for the kill with his first stun combo (because he is low on adrenalin and because he will want you to waste your stunbreakers/defensive cooldowns on low duration stuns).
You have perma swiftness, he can have long lasting (but not perma) swiftness if he uses his Elite Signet, he has one ranged cripple with slow projectile speed and very obvious animation and two gap closers (and their range is also greatly reduced if the Warrior is slowed), all of these are on Greatsword.
If the Warrior gets in melee range and swaps to the Mace/Shield, dodge or use shield #4/#5 and kite him while throwing cripples/chills/immobilizes to increase range. He has literally no means to get near you unless he swaps back to the GS and that would mean no stuns.
The only utilities you need to look for are Berserker stance (short duration, long-ish cooldown, immunity to conditions – there you make use of your dodges, stuns and knockbacks) and Stability (there you make use of your dodges, blinds and slows). The third utility is usually conditon wipe, but can be another stun breaker, or Bull’s Charge.

Skullcrack Warriors are dangerous to most classes in 1v1 fights. Engineers are one of the few classes that can beat them even without stunbreaks. So no, not a hard counter….

Who needs distance closing when you’re trying keep them from capping a node?
This depends on the size of the nodes, ofcourse, but still. It’s not like I disagree with what you said because that IS the way to get rid of warrior but you’re not always going to get the opportunity to fight exactly like that, in a more spacious setting then yes, warriors chances drop alot.
And skullcrack WILL end you if it connects, a full 4 seconds to bash someone in is plenty.
Actually, the main gimmick of the Skullcrack fotm isn’t so much the skullcrack duration, it’s the idea of being tanky sustain while still dealing passable damage. What this means is that they won’t be dealing nearly as much damage as the old full glass warriors. The typical soldiercrit spec deals laughable damage except to stunned enemies. Unless you are glass, you should be able to survive a full stunned hundred blades from them. If you can’t, either you or they are pretty fragile and you need to capitalize on that in order to win.
It’s a tough skill-based matchup that goes to whoever uses their skills the best. It’s extremely scary to duel a warrior who, at any point, can go immune to CC, conditions, and damage by clicking a button. But those all have long cooldowns, so you just need to draw out the fight to win.
