Guild Wars 2

I hope the title is appropriate. So during my on and off life in GW2 I’ve gone from class to class trying to find that progression that I can stick with. I started with the light armour professions. But I couldn’t stay in one place with them. Mesmer, Necro, Ele, Mesmer, Ele, Mesmer. Eventually I made a Ranger to help relive my holiday which involved Falconry and I fell in love, and hated it all at the same time. I would like to say that I’m a good ranger. I rarely get downed and I clear content easily. I dare would say it’s my favourite profession one that I just keep logging in to.

Though the current state of ranger with celestial avatar is a bit of a mess. I love it but I feel like it has no place, right now. Although I understand the new stuff isn’t mandatory… Come on, I want to play with the new toys!

This leads me to Engineer, or primarily the Scrapper. I love the Scrapper ‘in theory’ and the hammer is the weapon of choice. My issues with engineers previously was that I disliked all of their main weapons and felt too tied to the weapon kits. But now with the hammer and the little funky gyro’s. I feel like I could have a lot of fun and may even stay a while and have it be my main. The idea of what I want is a bruiser. Tanky but still dealing decent damage. I want to be able to toe to the with some big beasts and to support my party with my nifty toys.

So I ask you. Am I being realistic in my expectations? Is scrapper ‘fun’? Is it worth the effort to get one leveled up from scratch?

Help me… help me… RIGGER!

Engineer (and subsequentially scrapper) is one of the most engaging and fun classes in GW2 IMHO. I main one togheter with a Revenant, only because rev ha s this unique vibe other heavy classes have not

if you want a bruiser scrapper is the perfect choice. we got blocks, invuln and other tools to stay alive while we’re able to deal one of the highest if not the highest dps in the game.
you won’t be able to compete with others scrappers without kits, tho. they’re the bread and butter of the engineer and this won’t change. gyros aren’t really useful except for a few situations (bulwark as oneshot negation and reflect or stealth gyro for skipping [and even that’s a bit clunky]).
in general i can only recommend trying engineer/scrapper because it’s the most versatile class in the game. you got everything except for very few things (group quickness [mesmer, guardian], group fury,group stability …. aaand … erm … actually i can’t think of anything else).
