Help me to create the best 1v1 engineer!
You have high armor, but you’ll probably lose to most condition bunkers.
To get around this, you could try using elixir c, but it is only useful against bursts of conditions, not the sustained you’ll be facing most of the time. A slightly better option might be to replace S with the elixir gun, while you lose a stun breaker you gain condition removal every ten seconds along with a HoT to fight in that can also remove conditions if you fight alongside allies.
Also, you might find cloaking device useful, stealth on immobilize, as it can save your hide in tough spots and is arguably better than 100 power (which is what the trait you currently have gives).
Still, a strong build, most likely wouldn’t lose to any class one on one, may not be able to drop bunkers though due to the damage trade off.
Personally I think he’s fine if he’s using medkit, that has a 15 second cd on condition removal vs elixir c which is on a 30+ cd
However I have found that with gear shield and elixir S you have enough tank that you should really be rolling with P/P instead of P/S. Blowtorch is single handedly the best burn skill in the game in my opinion. Another option would be to drop grenades and go for flamethrower for the toolbelt skill. That would really give you more control and access to the burn.
Lot of things you can run, but Burn is the heaviest hitting condition so it’s best to use. it.

The only thing I don’t see in your build is how you are going to do enough damage. I would say if you are tanky enough try using 2x lyssa and 4x nightmare runes for better bleed damage and for sigils. Use sigil of battle and corruption if you don’t get downed alot.
Well reason for using shield is the amount of control really. Also reflect projectiles can be very effective in some cases. Besides that I’d like to point out that this build is only focused on 1v1 situations. I want it to be most effective on that part for the tournament.
@Creld, the reason I’m not using cloaking device is that it’s too obvious imo. When I see an engineer stealh out of nowhere I know it’s the trait and he’s still rooted. But yeah might just be me, 100 power is nice though for nades. Even though you’re only running with +475 power it’ll make the direct damage from your nades/prybar hit quite hard.
@Dyeus, reason I’m not running condition duration runes is that they’re bugged atm. according to a dev post a while ago. Didn’t test it myself but I’m avoiding them for now. Besides that toughness+healing works well with the build and the 1s burn on block is kinda my alternative for losing blowtorch. Depending on the hit rate of your opponent you might even be able to stack an equal amount of burning. Also, I’ve used geomancy for a while lately and it seems to be a lot better than battle imo. Does quite some direct damage and applies 3 bleeds on a 9s cd.

A build is one thing but knowing how to play it is another and I doubt you’ll be able to practice any build we give you to peak proficiency before tomorrow.

its what i use and havent lost a 1v1 match so far only class i had issues with was mesmer but i figured the key to fighting them was running out of their LoS and prepare for another offensive. i ve played most classes so tool kit shield is more than enough for me no need for condi removals or stun breakers if the oponent never lands it to begin with .
