Help with Engineer
You can find there some useful informations

Yeah I saw that Thread but there are mostly out of date information. All I want to know which build is fun/fast for leveling and which build is cool in pve (thinking of heavy condition dmg build) and need a little guidance here ^^
If you want condition, then go for either a support/condition build (that would mean elixir gun/bombs infused with the healing trait), or a pistol/pistol build. Early on engineers can be viable with any spec, even using a full turret set-up is fine. The most common build right now uses grenade kit and 30 points in explosives tree to get the longest range in the game, it’s good for PvE and WvW (and even sPvP), however it takes some practice to use and is not for everyone. Conditions are another good path to take and like I previously said, pistols can be good for raw condition damage (in which case go into firearms tree but also take the trait in explosives tree that gives you burn on crits). Flamethrower can look very cool, but it is currently lacking a bit in damage, so many people choose not to run with it (you can still make a viable build out of it, just not as good as other builds). With the recent buff to gadgets I would definitely take rocket boots and use that with combo fields (some of your skills in their description have a little text describing what combo field/finisher they are). You should also take healing turret for your healing skill as it is great for team fights and generally as well (if you press 6 after using it and f1 after a bit of waiting you can get some extra heals out of it, also use rocket boots for more healing). Anyway really it is up to you to see what you want to play. One thing I will say however, is with the recent nerfs to Elixir R and previous nerf to Elixir S the elixirs have become more of dps-oriented skills, and since you will usually want a stun breaker (a skill that breaks you out of stun, immobilize, etc.) elixirs don’t really have anything to offer in that department except Elixir U which will end up hampering you in that kind of situation anyways. So right now while alchemy tree is very useful and people still use it, if you checked previous builds and saw how popular it was, it is not as popular anymore. Anyways, just choose what you want and I can come up with a build for you should you really wish for one and post it here
Engineer has a high schoolar curve. The reason why you don’t see much guides and builds for newbies is: it does not work. If an engineer player with 1000+ hours gives a newbie his build, the newbie will suck hard with it.
What we can help you with is giving u advises:
a) try out as many as possible
b) bombs are great for leveling, within the grandmaster trait for grenades, grenades rock hard from level 60+
c) it does not mather if u prefer pistols or rifle, both got their lovley sides
d) don’t be static. Also if some ppl say you don’t need to swap hard or you don’t need to play piano – that’s not true: if you want to play a good engi, speed and timing is your bread and butter. Ofc you can play engi on a good level without breakin your fingers, but u are always better breaking them.
e) Static discharge works well for leveling – just 10 points in the tool trait tree.
I think I spent most of my early engineer time with flamethrower just because I thought it was cool. Turned out it’s one of the better weapons in all of gw2 for tagging mobs in events and also good against swarms in personal story. For underwater use grenades in case you didn’t know.
The other slots are mostly used for anything that increases speed (med kit 5, elixir B, slick shoes) because there’s a lot of distance to cover. At skill point challenges I used turrets mostly. The low level stuff don’t really do anything nasty so you can skip out on condition clearing and stun breakers.
I actually prefer how pistol skills work but while out in the world exploring I use the jump shot to go across gaps/cliffs quite often and it’s a pain to switch them all the time so eventually I just used the rifle.
